    Hey guys,

I have done a search but can't seem to find the answer... The 360 iPod thread helped but I think this is a different issue.

I have purchased this lead from Becker; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250803512450?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Installed into my 2007 F430 but it seems the I have to change the tracks on the iPod itself and not through the Becker system (6111 or 6112)... That can't be right can it? Am I missing something here? Surely we should be able to change the track through the becker system and not through the iPod? Whats the point of the connector then... could have just got a aux out and stuck it into the headphone jack.

Has anyone else had the same issue and found a solution or is there something I havn't done correctly?

    Thanks for any advise.

    Jay

There was a dedicated Becker wire that enabled some later heads to change Ipod tracks

There's nothing here that suggests this is one

The basic wires do not charge

Your link is supplied by Becker Autosound in the USA who are not the manufacturer of the head units

Jay, it all depends on which radio you have. If it is a becker cascade (color face) or perhaps a later mexico, you might be able to buy an adaptor to change tracks on the ipod with the radio. Earlier cars only have the ability to input audio from the ipod via an aux port in the back. It sounds like the adaptor that you bought has a transformer in it that allows charging the ipod and the audio connection. If it has a later version radio as in the 599 and 612 cars (the becker model 6111 I believe), there is an adaptor from becker that you can buy that allows full integration with the ipod. Any earlier model does not.. looks like this one here...

I might be wrong on this but perhaps someone else can chime in?

Yes just checked the becker website and the model is a 6111 Cascade.

So it looks like I have the wrong adapter :(

If its any consolation I think Curt's unit was discontinued about 2 years ago so you may have the best current option (although some claim availability and they sometimes appear on Ebay)

Thanks for the tip... I'll call Becker now and see what they can do.

    Cheers all!

    An update...

Right so I've finally got the right cable. I have connected it to the becker unit and it shows all the songs/playlists/albums and you can change the tracks from the system... but the sound that comes out is completly distorted and you can barely hear the music. I tired it with my older iPod and the iphone 4, both the same outcome.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a setting I haven't adjusted or something?

    Thanks for any help!

    Jay

Have you turned on 'aux' deep in the menu and switched to that for playback ?

I sent my Becker Autosound cable back for a refund. The sound quality was very poor and you could hear squeeky interference noises from the iPod/iPhone electronics. All this on an F430 Becker BE 6105 factory OEM radio.

Hi Jay, I have seen this before as I have one here that does the same thing.... I tried a new ipod cable on it and it does the same thing so it is not the cable.... I would expect it to be in the audio processor chip..

That does seem strange... The MP3's play fine through the CF card and the CD changer which uses the same connections at the back work fine too.. Can it really be the unit?
