I am a new F430 and joined the FOC shortly after I purchased the car. Since joining F-Chat, I've read a lot about FCA but I'm not a member yet.

I would like to hear thoughts on the differences between the two. Should I be a member of both?

    Thanks,

    -Jasone

when it comes to the FCA and FOC one isn't absolutely better than the other. FCA is much larger and has some national events, but FOC has more activity in areas like Southern California. There are other clubs too, California check out the FOG. heck, most parts of the world have get togethers formed right here on FerrariChat. research your local area, that's the most important thing. you will hear from those that have had bad experiences from every organization.

I hear they have a small group in Japan that promotes safe driving...

    Jason,

I have been an FCA member for 35 yrs. Recently we merged our Ferrari Club of Naples into the FCA. We are now the FCA FL Region - Naples Chapter.

It really comes down to individuals that are willing to put in their time to make the club active. My job here as President of our club keeps me busy with events here in Naples. We have a huge car show coming up, Cars on 5th on February 11th w/ 400+ cars in a beautiful setting.

FCA does come with benefits like monthly newsletter, quarterly magazine, track events, National activities, discounts and other. I don't know about the FOC as I am not a member, but would guess there are similar activities. FOC is more active in the Tampa area than the FCA I believe.....not sure though.

Thanks for the info Steve, make sense. I'll try to make it down for the show. Naples is a quick drive for me.

Not a member of FOC but am of FCA - Rocky Mountain Chapter - Can't say enough good things about the people, events and comradery. Rob's advice is sound (as usual) - Check out the local chapters/clubs and depends what your interests are - track events, rallies, social gatherings, charity events etc. Some are more focused on specific types of activities than others.

    Cheers :)

Im a member of both: neither is terribly expensive. I will say there is not much crossover between memberships.

Here in NY, FOC seems to focus on more social events: FCA more on track days. I'd suggest joining both and seeing which group you enjoy more.

    P.S. Very sharp 430! Enjoy!

After a lackluster tenure with the FOC I have (as of this year) joined the FCA.

I attended multiple FOC events for years (even won one) and read countless newsletters but the camaraderie was never there.

Looking forward to an FCA 2012 though and can't wait for the 50th anniversary in 2013.

I was an FCA member for a year. The group didn't do too much and many people who got together were past FCA members and we organized through F-chat.

I think it is worth looking into, I believe my area is not necessarily the norm.

My only other experience with the FCA is when I pulled my Mondi to the side of the HWY in CA. Someone pulled over to offer help. It was the president of the local FCA chapter. Nice folks.

F-chat groups from my experience can be a mix of enthusiasts with any make of car. Lambo, BMW, Merc, Porsche, Lotus, Alfa, Aston Martin.

    No experience with FOC.

I belong to both organizations. Both have lots to offer and each have different strengths and weaknesses depending on which region or chapter you join. The FOC is a much stronger presence in Cali vs. the midwest. While the FCA is more trackday focused here in the midwest. They are both great clubs and I enjoy supporting them both.
