+3. First time I have seen this as an add on part. Good luck with the rest of the build, however long that may take .
It's not an add on part. It's from the Scud which Russ managed to source one for me. Im lucky I suppose. The build shouldn't take all that long. Plenum, expansion tank, extinguisher, carbon door cards with complete new set of locking hardware and carbon center console should be all in latest by end March. It's fast, by my standards. Lol. Labour of love. I'm enjoying myself to the fullest. Will post pix of the carbon door cards and center console soon.
So darn excited! Paid for carbon door cards and carbon center console. Happening alot faster than I expected.
Carbon plenum arrived! Strangely its in matte carbon finish rather than the usual glossy carbon. So I'm going to send it off to the painters together with the expansion tank cover to be re-lacquered. Should look really neat when its done. Also, carbon door cards and center console are on route to me. I'm placing order with Eurospares for all the hardware. Hopefully it comes with an instruction manual. The parts look really complicated. Now lusting for carbon mirrors. Might just get that too while the iron's still hot.
Thanks! Update: Just ordered a Sabelt extinguisher with floor mount exactly the same as the scuderia model, except in 4 litres-sized tank. Will be shipped to me empty. I'll fill the tank with dry chemical when it arrives. Also ordered oem Ferrari side mirrors in carbon. Happy as.
Fire Ext - that's a damn good idea. Link me the website? OEM Mirrors - Oh Yeah, if there's one piece of carbon goodie I'd really like on the car it's the OEM mirrors. I look forward to seeing all this come together, keep it up, you're doing great!
OEM ones you can get cheap, if they ever pop up on eBay for USD$4100. Cheap aftermarket ones run approximately a grand for a pair from the likes of RTuned, Aeroworke but they are not foldable.
Damn straight. I'd love to see everything fitted soon too! Too long a to-do-list. Parts lying around everywhere. I'm like a kid in a candy store. A really good fire extinguisher is ZERO360, by STAND21. This is a highly recommended brand and I'd love to get my hands on them unfortunately they refuse to send me a unit emptied so that it can clear customs as a non-flammable or combustable item. I was lusting after the Zero360FIA 2.25kg mechanical system ( http://www.lifeline-fire.co.uk/motorsport/products.asp?page=zero-360-series-fia-24 ). You could go for the automatic system but that'd involve running hoses to strategic locations in the cabin and engine bay where fire normally occurs. I ended up sourcing one from Sabelt whom agreed to empty the tank after over 3 months of negotiations. It's a 4.25L tank which I will refill with dry chemical compound when it arrives next two weeks ( http://www.sabeltusa.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=80&products_id=167&zenid=gbboe5jv533k00plqnmuejp9f6 ). These are not expensive things to add to our Fcars. IMO, they are a worthwhile investment. It might save one's life one day. Who knows? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the links Addict. You sourced some very good pricing there. I've seem similar units at twice the price typically on motorsport web sites but of course you're getting much better value from a "fire" specialist. Just on the 4.25 litre model you selected - are you happy it has a discharge nozzle suitable for hand held use? It looks like it's designed for hooking up to remote nozzles? Also it's going to be a pretty chunky bit of kit - you have checked your dimensions and it's not going to take up too much space?
I wanted a handheld extinguisher. Didn't want the tech to run hoses all over the engine bay. About the size, it's a snug fit. The 2.25l bottle fully discharges in 15seconds. IMO, that's insufficient. So I opted for larger bottle. My passenger won't be happy.
Oh I agree on the larger size. Particularly used by someone (like me) who has little experience using an extinguisher. More has got to be better if you can accommodate the size.
More is better. True. Pulled the trigger this morning on a carbon fuel lid. Now finalizing figures for the next mod. Something my wife calls 'eternal sin' due to it's price tag. Nope...not referring to the black 458 coupe I'm trying tp smuggle home. Lol.
I thought the point of all this was to end up with a Scuderia in the most expensive way possible (or have I got that wrong). I haven't seen any Scuderias with a black carbon fuel lid.
F430Addict: Maybe post what the cost of a scud is over there in USD vs a stock F430 just as a reference. Maybe that will give people a better perspective of where you're coming from. Either way, F-em. You've got the sweetest F430 out there.
