Does anyone have experience with a front skid guard--either having one or not having one and wishing you did? Is it a worthwhile dealer option at $1500?

I have it on my F430, which hits all the time on driveways, etc. (at factory height). I've never had that issue with my California. It is a magnaride car that is at factory height.

If you talk about Skid guard under front bumper, I brought it from dealer for around 300USD and have it installed afterward.

There is truly no need for skid guards. The California front bumper height clears most everything.

The front bumper and spoiler are also very sturdy and robust. You really have to punish the car to damage them

Just today I was going over an oversized speed bump and bottomed out. I think it's worthwhile just in case. Like a clear bra. I'd rather replace something for 1500 than risk something more expensive. Bottom line...why not?

I was just commenting today how high the Cali chin is off the ground.

Mine hits regularly (normal ride height), though no serious damage done.

Cannot speak to advisability on California, but for my 430 and now again with the 458 I can tell you "better safe than sorry". With regard to price, the cost is in "how" mounted. If simply riveted in, cheaper. but wears down along with frequency of other areas rubbed. The cost is in the time it takes to do correctly, about 2-3 hours. If done this way, the center piece of the best protection can be replaced with wear cheaply, otherwise, it could get expensive. Their are "pucks" which are separate pieces that be tacked on and seem to do a pretty good job (material cost around $600). Best
