If you absolutely MUST have the OEM original, a quick Google Search turned up this:

There's a more expensive blank on Ebay at the moment

Why not just get a basic blank cut for day to day use and keep your one original for when you sell the car ?

Is there any actual purpose to the hinged 348 key? (other than it just looks really cool??)

I have been told that because of the low position of the key, the hinge helps prevent you from hitting the key and breaking it with your knee.

Not sure if that is it but that is what I was told.

I have Goth key for my 348 and love it, took it to local hardware store the guy ask me how much i paid for the key and what did it fit, and said if i would bring the car by some time so his 10 year boy could see it, he cut the key for no charge,i took his son for a ride and snap some pics, drew a big crowd, became good freinds with the owner and his son and i see them at the local car shows.the other day my wife and i park across from the restaurant, and i had turn my back, wife says there is a guy running across the street he had his tall chef hat on ask if he could take a picture of the 348, i said better than that jump in and i took his picture with his camera phone ,we then had dinner and he took very good care us, sorry i got carried away. regards John

The problem appears to be you do not want to pay the going rate for this item - you could pay a few quid for a silca or a couple of hundred for the real thing but you seem to think someone needs to do you a favor

I was the first to get one of the spares that were offered by the mentioned member. He only had 2 or 3 and they quickly went. Since then, mine has been cut for my 348 so it is used up. My 355 has the Ricambi after market at $70 which is expensive but a better deal than the factory prices. My 328 does not have any original keys so I sprung for the F50 key at ~$250 from the factory.

I suggest that you just bite the bullet and get the original 348 key from the factory if they are still available, and before they become way too expensive like the 328 keys.

I use all my factory keys every day, and not the $5 generics. For me, it is part of the charm of owning a Ferrari. Saving the key for the next owner is not my style. You may feel differently.

The keys are still readily available from the dealers. The reason those of us with OEM blanks don't want to sell them is that you can only order pre-cut keys from the dealer now with proof of ownership.

No clue what you are talking about - this was an individual, with a ONE key, not a dealer with multiple keys.
