Or, put more positively, they've recaptured that 1960s safety vibe.

In my opinion, if your going to get a GT, get the best one you can find and not worry over the difference of the $'s as this car will not go down and their is a very knowledgeable community on the FORD GT website and even some members here. I would personally avoid any crashed cars, or lack of paperwork just to save $10 -$20K that will be made up later.

I bought a FGT new in 2005. I do not know if they will go up or down in the short term but I believe they will go up long term. I do not know if they will be million dollar cars. I do know at a recent car auction one sold for $230k plus whatever the % was as a buyer premium. I think it was 8% but I am not sure.

Some one mentioned the saleen as a comparison. Those were horrible cars. A dealer contacted me on one he had for sale, it was horrible just aweful! In fact it was illegal to sell the cars in Calif.

They only exported 310 FGT overseas. I only know of two that were wrecked. They were in Australia.

I like my FGT better than my 458. The only car I like better is the ZR1 and the only car much better is the Audi 8 V10 which is awesome but sadly I do not own one yet.

Is that a joke lol? You like your ZR1 more than your GT? And you like the R8 even more than that? Sell your GT immediately to someone who has better taste!

What are you even talking about? Please explain how the GT cabin design differs from several other exotics still on the market. You would not like my GT40 inside the cabin at all! And it shakes your teeth lol

Take it easy now, no one is questioning who is a great guy. This is about a plastic rattle trap Corvette being superior to a Ford GT. I think not... Feel free to differ and I won't assume you wear gold chains lol jesus!

Kind of dragging down the tone of the site, IMHO.

If someone owns both, and has an opinion, it is what it is. He's not pontificating based on car magazines.

Luke, Lee is a great guy and he always mentions how much he thinks of the Ford GT if you look at his other posts. I too would prefer a GT over a ZR1 personally, but to each their own.

Sorry... I've never owned a Corvette or any supercar myself. That said, I do have a 1992 Honda CRX that I prefer over any Corvette. I'm just not attracted to the gold chain wearing crowd. That's all I meant to say to begin with. I am a great guy too and am sorry for lowering the tone of FChat.

I'd love to hear your reasoning.
I'm definitely a Chevy over Ford guy. The Ford GT IMHO is the only Ford worth mentioning in 25 to 35 plus years. I think they are awesome. I've only been fortunate enough to log about 50 miles in actually all 3 you mention. 458 i dislike most of the 3. It's lost all driver feel but smooth and fast. Zr1 I had one purchased and it was actually on a truck and my wife talked me out of it so I bought a CGT. FGT the wife also dislikes but I'm sure one day she will cave :)

Tell me your view on zr1 v fgt. I always felt getting the power down in the FGT was far superior in almost all instances but the torque of the Chevy was crazy. Your thoughts? I love you own both. Nice choices!

Wife said she didnt like zr1. I looked for a different car. Cgt's finally hit where I felt they should be so I picked one up. 2 very different cars one I purchased hopefully for life and the zr1 would have been a one or two year car.

Luke, the CGT is a great car, I don't know if you have ever driven a ZR1, but it is really a very good car. It is light years from the old rattle trap Corvettes. The Magnetic Shocks, Brakes, and Power are great. I still would take a FGT any day, but credit is due to the ZR1 for being a very good car, regardless of the FORD vs. CHEVY rivalry.

How so? They still have the same dime store interior and lead weight resale value? Drive one in 10 years and report back. They will be $20k or less just like every other gold chain wearin' Corvette sorry.

Yes but the C6 Corvette is a world beater. C6Rs won LeMans & Championships for years, Corvettes are still winning races.

There is NOTHING that can touch a ZR1 for the $

True about the interior, but not sure about the resale, if you look at the ZR-1's from 90-94.

The interiors have gotten a lot nicer since my 2006. Not quite F level but a lot nicer than a Lotus :)

Resale has taken about a 40% hit, not as bad as 360, 430s though LOL

William, your right about the interiors with the 4Z option (which is actually quite pricey). The problem is the SAT/NAV and other interior touches which are a generation too old and should be fixed big time on the C7.

However, saying the depreciation on a 360 is not really valid as it has been out of production now since 2004.

Back to the OP, another FORD GT not too far from me crashed around a roundabout and was a write off.

Luke yrs I do. In my mind the Ford Gt is a better looking car than the ZR1. I think the recent Corvettes are stale looking and need to be updated. A complete change!

The corvette series starting with 2008 really drive very well. The numb feeling of the steering in the older vettes is gone and the six speed has a tacit feel that is stunning.

The ZR1 at 638 hp is an incredible car to drive. The power and handling are only equaled by the ferrari 599 which only has paddleshifters.

Setting the looks of the FGT aside, the handling is still fairly good but the power is no longer supercar caliber.

Hey we each have a point of view :)

Thanks to those posters with the kind words.

    Lee
