http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Ferrari/360/BRAMPTON/Ontario/5_12396663_ON20080825101542442/ After visiting the dealer on Saturday - a 45 minute drive from my home, having made an appointment 2 days prior, it was only when I was turning into their lot they phoned me on my cell phone to tell me the key to the car was at the dealer owner's home, and he was in Florida. The car was locked and no records were available to view. Jeeeeeese, how disappointing! While the sales contact was genuinely appologetic, his knowledge on the car was pretty much zero...even though he was sure the clutch had been done recently. He mentioned it had a Tubi exhaust...it didn't, it was X-ost. Hummm...do I walk away now? From what little information I was able to gather from the sales contact, the car was originally sold and registered to a leasing company. It changed hands at least 3 times. The owner of the dealership bought it - presumably at an auction - but possibly directly from the last owner directly. Although the sales contact was appologetic, it was too bad I couldn't review any documentation or hear the car start up. The dealership is attempting to get their act together and will call me later this week once all the ducks are in a row. While I'm waiting I just thought I'd pass this by everyone, mostly to see if anyone knows anthing about this car. On the surface it may be one of those that you'd walk away from right away. Any comments are appreciated. Also posted on the 360/430 forum.
Hi John, if you have decided the 360 is the car of choice, then go look at all 100 of them for sale - you will then know which one you will want, compare, compare, compare. a few things to consider 1) Candian car ? 2) How many owners on the VIN 3) Last service - and what it included. 4) all books and tool kit - and warrenty card signed 5) last but not least, all the invoices for the work performed. No invoices, assume, never serviced. Good luck, and have fun shopping, that is half the fun !
windows were open for the photo shoot, so i call BS on this walk, nay, RUN there is a glut of 360s in North America right now, shop and as Big Red says, compare
Not to mention, their Lexus E350 and Honda Pilot both had windows closed, not that it means much. I'm not a fan of what appears to be either corrosion or burn marks in the engine compartment beside the exhaust though.
That 360 has a full service history from Daytona in Woodbridge. i think they just did the clutch in the car. they also installed the sport x-ost a couple of years ago. The owner of the car owns Lexus dealership . It's a good car. Call Alex at Daytona and ask him about the car.
Big Red...thanks. After going through 5 months of research, the one thing that gets drilled into your head is CHECK THE DOCUMENTATION. Your reminder is appreciated. That and get a PPI done by a non-related mechanic. Ideally a 2002/3/4/5 360 Red Berlinetta with the 6 speed...kind of tough to find. I still have yet to drive the 360, let alone an F1, so there's shopping to do...and you're right, this is half the fun. Originally I was looking for a 328, and having driven/tested 3 in North Carolina in October, upon my return to Canada I took my 6'3" son down to Daytona's to look at their lovely '89 model. While I was a marginal fit at 6', he was impossible. We tried everything. That was the end of the 328's. Yes...I want this to be a family Ferrari, if such a definition exists? Everyone get's to drive it, so everyone needs to fit. 348's don't appeal to me. 355's certainly do, and forum member Gerry has been helpful with everything 355. Lot's more research on the 355 and then as soon as you're converted on that model you flip up to the 360 and wow! You find them to be less maintenance than the 355 (average comments from forum members) and the look is just better (even though the 355 is a great looking car). The search continues.
Brett - Warrior - Nico...thanks for this feedback. I visually went over the car closely in the showroom - by the way it was located at their sister dealership, Family Honda at Hwy 7 and Airport Rd. All windows were up and the car was locked. The rotors will need to be changed shortly. Tires showed the car was tracking straight. Very minor stone chips on the front leading edges...but very minor. The rest of the car looked good. No dents. Interior was clean. Glass all around was perfect. I didn't pay any real attention to the engine bay since I couldn't get in, but will look more closely. The dealership will hopefully call me back this week and hopefully I'll be able to see the car next weekend.
I would imagine these pics were taken at a different time possibly when the keys and owner were obviously around. This car won't just normally sit outside like this with the windows open
Yes, photos are old. I went to see this one late 09 or early 2010.(form what I can recall) Seemed ok at that time. I think it was a US car. Remember... dont rush it, the search can be fun.You will meet alot of good and not so good people along your journey. Big reds list is spot on. PPI always. This can cost alot, but will also save you alot... On my quest, I would always get the vin and buy a "sellers pkg." for $20.00 It lists all previous owners. If its a Canadian car. I then contacted them and learned more about the car than the current seller. Its always good to know the history from people who actually owned the car, rather than 'stories" I too started considering a 355 and ended up with the Modena. Canadian 6 speed manual was a must on my list. Good luck with the hunt... If Daytona serviced it, you are ahead, talk to them they will know the car.
You are on the right track, narrow down the car model you want and fits you're need....then compare. I'm not one to right off any car right away, if you truly like the one at this Lexus dealership than use this as a benchmark. Compare, compare and compare....but I mean compare models...not price.....if you compare price, you will be all over the place, a $100,000 Dino is not like a 100,000 360. Compare the $ 90,000 360 with the $110,000 360, then you will truly see which is the best car for you and what you can expect....if you want a concourse car then you have to expect to pay a little more, but get all the goodies, like a one owner car, lower mileage, yadda, yadda. Take you're time, and buy the right car for you....once you get it , you will be in bliss as opposed to upside down, trust me. Nothing worse then trying to convince yourself you love it once its in the garage. Buy the color you want, and don't settle... Good luck !!!! After you buy , post pics....the the next step is finding the right guy to service it for you....and that is the same process Have fun !
Hi John I just want to mention that I know the owner of the Lexus and Honda dealership (and the 360 in question here), they have been running a great dealership network for 25 years, and have only positive reviews from myself and other friends. If this is the owners' personal car, I know that they have owned many other Ferrari's in the past, and all are well cared for. But again, its your call, and I do suggest you compare many other 360's before buying.
I have been lurking on the forums for quite some time, and this thread has caught my attention to post. If maintenance is an issue like most of us who are now getting into the Ferrari game, I can only ponder why http://www.ferrariquebec.com/service/service-your-ferrari/ has the belt service for a 355 from 1650 whereas the belt service for a 360 modena is almost 1000 bucks more at 2550. Considering that the 355, would require an engine removal, and the modena does not. If the price is considerably lower for a 355 belt change, I'm sure it would change the mind of alot of owners such as myself who want to purchase the 360, because they would be saving money every 3 years.
A complete major service would be a lot more on a 355 then the 360, maybe twice as much starting figure $5000+ on the 355.
John, have you considered getting into the "Beast" AKA the TR and forget the rest. BTW, I'm 6'1" and fit into my 328GTB just fine with room to spare.
LOL, never, even his handle on here is hollywood, he is destined for the 458 and the next one - with a hot 27 yr old in the passenger seat - He has the right idea
I remember this car. I saw it at the dealership in Summer 2010 as well, as I drove past (I live 15 minutes NE from this dealer). Unfortunately I have no further useful info on it. Good luck.
Great information everyone has passed on to me. Thanks. One week later and the dealership has not contacted me. Hummm...seems like they're not interested in selling.
LOL! I'm in and about 1/3rd of the way through, old timer I'm in IL right now, will be in the Chicago area for the next 2 years for rotations, save for trips back home every few months.
GOOD - let us know when you are back in town - once you get that piece of paper, i need to switch family Dr.s PS, not that old yet Mr !
Old enough for the rubber glove and bend over exam! ...Oh wait that's what happens at Rock's when you get the bill! You don't need a Dr. ask Rock to check what's going on back there!
John, did you check out the black spyder, also on autotrader.ca, in Newmarket? If nothing else, it might be worth your time to get a comparison or visualize the condition of a $69,900 360...and it's nice and close.
John, have a 2nd look at the "Red Heads" listed in the autotrader.ca, you can't go wrong having V12 strapped to your back.
