I read with interest all the comments about the mclaren 12 C and the 458 with regards to the performance, and i was under the impression that there is a 2 year waiting list for the McLaren , so it has to be a bit odd that you can just call a rent-a-car place in California and drive one
    http://www.bhrentacar.com/r/traffier/rental_car/exotics/MCL_MP4/Mclaren_Mp4-12c.html

for sure this is no comment on the car its self maybe just the hyperbole that surrounds it

In england they are selling them at some places with a premium of 90K GBP.

I know the Mclaren starts of 168 GBP... and can sky rocket with added stuff in... but really... don't think I would spend 250K on a mclaren when I could go get a 458 and a nice range rover with some pocket change.

Interesting, but do they actually have a car to rent is the real question?

I had inquired about a Mclaren and after considering it and the 458 ordered the latter. Best

The "waiting" list on the Mp4-12c is 1.5 years in the US. That is if you spec one out. However, all dealers have pre-ordered cars that they may or may not tell you about. I discovered this before ordering the 458. Beverly Hills McLaren has one right now.

I was told 12 months today in Beverly hills.
On another note, BW rental has an aventador for rent. Stopped in and it was something like $5k a day.

Wow...I wonder when exotic racing in vegas will have the Aventador and 12C to drive...that would be a great track day. 458, 12 C and Aventador...I'll have to add that to my bucket list. Just came back from a drive with my new 458, picked her up Friday night and it's hard to image a better driving experience. What a fantastic car.

They were supposed to get one of the first Mac's last Nov but McLaren's deliveries are delayed. I know they have one on order.

Saw the Mclaren at Pebble. Would be fun to see how it compares to my 458.

Yep, it's $5500 a day. 30 miles included, $5 per mile over that. Terrible deal IMO.

They have the Aventador. Also some other new cars like the Turbo S, SLS AMG, and a few others. Not sure when they get the 12C.

Yes I saw it on my way to work this morning. It was parked right in front of the white 458. Not sure what it is about that car (the 458) or about any Ferrari for that matter. They are always stunning. Even when compared to the best other companies have to offer.

In Maranello you can rent a 458 Italia and a 599 Fiorano for $500 and $600 respectively for 1hr. in the Italian country side. You can rent a Superleggera.
Its is much cheaper when you are there and haggle the price down.

The 599 was a "familiar" drive like my Maserati. Ride quality and shifting. I stress familiar and not similar.

The 458 was another beast altogether.
Taking the 458 to speeds of 250+ was something else. Fantastic car on all points, shifting, cornering, road feel and sounds.

Yes. These are their front cars. In the "back" sit four covered cars, all available for immediate delivery. I was offered one at 15k markup. Lovely car but at that price I will stick with 458. It is likely 458 will reach icon status. I look forward to being part of that.

I worry about car resale values when a dealer has several that are readily available.
