In my personal search for a car to buy I have had a contact with an SF Bay Area broker named Rob Forbes (Driveline Automotive Consulting, 650-261-1777, [email protected], www.DrivelineAC.com ). He "has a line" on a '76 365 GT/4 2+2 5-spd car. Currently owned by a guy in his late '80s, a resident of what we call The Gold Country -- i.e., the piedmont counties east of San Francisco. It was repainted from silver to red about 30 years ago. Paint now has a lot of checking. Black interior with red inserts. Good driver quality but not a show car. Asking $35K.

The problem for a California buyer is the car has no cats and will not pass Smog Check as it sits. Therefore it makes the most sense to sell it out of the state. Registration has been kept current because our rural counties do not require Smog Check to renew registration. But every sale requires a successful Smog Check. (*Sniff* Another small bit of the late great Golden State slips away.)

I'm posting about it here because I have learned that 5-spd carbureted cars are the Holy Grail. So anyone who's looking for one, here's a lead.

all 365's were five speeds Bill, with only 3 exceptions as they prepared for the 400A.

    red inserts ? 365's did't have inserts.

i do like 365's in red, but it's a shame that it was changed from it's original Silver.

any pics of this car ?

No autos? OK, well chalk that up to me being a rank newb. Red inserts? That's what I got from the broker Rob. But he hasn't seen the car for quite a while, so he might have mixed this car up with some other car. No pix available, sorry.

I agree with the question of inserts.
However I have a doubt with automatic transmission. I don't have any information of 3 GT4 produced with automatic trans. (and I won't believe it without proof ?), but the souvenir of the possibility of a very few 365 GT (Queen Mary) automatic.

FWIW, according to Marcel, my 365 gt4 was delivered new with a pelle bianco interior, with the center part of the seats in blue--maybe similar in application to the plaid inserts offered in the C/4?

What could you called 'center parts' in a GT4 interior ? Never seen a 365GT4 leather in multicolor...

Simon, you are right. Those are C4 seats. I was not trying to suggest otherwise. I assume that my GT4 had seat centers similar those of the plaid in the referenced C4, but with an alternate leather color, instead. At least that's what's in the build specs, as conveyed to me.

Ok many thanks. We can't know everything but we have to be prudent. Suppositions mustn't become truth without any research.
According to K. Bluemel V12 BOOK, the color list of the Daytona can be extended to the GT4 2+2. But in this list, Bianco Duco doesn't exist, no more for Pelle Bianco with or without inserts.
According to the informations Marcel has delivered, we have to consider the center of the seat, between the two extreme parts. As your C4 seats.

I have the souvenir of a (maybe black) GT4 2+2, barnfind in the US, should have heard from it on F-Chat, this car had seats with center like yours. It was about one year ago.

I don't forget that Ferrari could make what the customer wanted.
But I keep doubt, even if I trust Marcel's work and Ferrari Archives, many cars are in differents conditions compared to the ones they were supposed to have when they were delivered new.
