Hello everybody how much should i pay for a 20k miles 1999 360 manual. basic car.
How much do you want to pay for it? Take that, lower it by 7% an tell them that's what you want. Negotiate from there. In the end, it doesn't matter what others pay for their cars. It only matters that you find the car you want at the price you want to pay. It's not a game to find the cheapest car in America. It's finding something you want at the price you want to pay. Good luck!
Base Model = Mid $60's IMO, assuming it's a no stories car and properly cared for. Nothing like a good old gated F-Car. Good luck with your hunt ! Post some pics if you get the car.
There are a lot of variables. Color...interior color...condition...miles...tools/books/keys/fobs...history, service records I would say that mid $60Ks will get you a decent car in a reasonable color in fair condition with a lot of miles on it - for a Ferrari anyway (figure over 25K). If you want a red-tan, low miles, just serviced, pristine interior, cream puff, the price can easilly go to the low $70Ks or even the mid-70s. Interiors are delicate and wear fast, especially if the owner is an oaf. Interior condition will tell you a lot about how the car was taken care of. Private owners with nice cars usually know it and try to get top dollar. Dealers often advertise what prove to be fright pigs for sale with no history (which is bad history) and lots of missing stuff...and shrinking leather on the dash and a tear in the seats and a few dings in the paint and body. It will take a sack of cash to make one of these as nice as one of the already nice ones that is only $7K more in initial price. Buyer beware. You get what you pay for. Just some of the old sayings that are really true when buying used Ferraris.
Looking for a cheap Ferrari is the wrong mentality to have when gaining entry into a wonderful automotive experience. Look for the best one within your price range instead! If you have to be frugal and must have an Fcar, I suggest getting into a well maintained 348 or a nice 355 with all the issues resolved. Granted, a 360 is a better car but a cheap Modena can potentially be a headache and be costly if not properly cared for. I only suggest this as I do not wish you or anyone to get bitten and have a terrible experience with the Modena in the end. Be that as it may, good luck on your quest and may everyone have a bountiful new year! Happy motoring!!! EDIT: Carfax is worthless so don't base your judgement on it alone. Take any car to a qualified tech to have a PPI performed prior to your decision. --- - Ken B. posted this from his iPhone using Tapatalk.
sounds good. thanks everybody. it's service red/tan. manual seats. rare moonroof and gated shifter. no shields
Know what your budget is, work with that.. and buy a car with that budget. Go on cars.com, autotrader and ebay. Look at what the prices are there on average for a 99-2000. I presume that you have done that and are asking the community for their take? Looks to me mid-60's seems to be about right. A Pre purchase inspection will tell you what to offer, based on what it needs. Needs clutch, deduct $3-6k, needs major service, deduct $3500.. and so on. Hello kitty painted on the hood with bright green interior, deduct more, etc. If your budget is $50-60k, then no matter how perfect the $70k car is.. it's not going to work. As a buyer of a sub $65-60k car.. I can tell you, a cheaper car doesn't necessarily have to be one step from the junkyard. Mine has been a wonderful, reliable experience... Look at the asking prices, follow bdelp's advice and have fun...
The "moonroof" is rare because owners didn't order many with it, really rare indeed. If you like it then go for it, but at resale it might be a little harder to move.
I have not purchased yet, but I never really thought people negotiate for cars like this. I figure its either you buy it for that or you dont. I can maybe see how a maintenance thing could knock down asking price, or equate it into the asking price for getting the services done etc
Where is the car located? Do you have pics? Factory sunroof cars are cool. I've only seen a few. Good luck.
sunroof hurts the value imo. Yes it's rarer but there's a reason why, few people wanted it because of the way it looks. As long as your happy with it that's all that matters but i would use it as a negotiating tactic to get the seller to come down on price.
Sun "Port hole" or sunroof is hit or miss based on preference. My car doesn't have it.. I think it's kinda cool, but OTOH I'm not 6'6" either..
i drove it yesterday and i have to admit the sunroof does have a weird look about it. it just doesn't fit the image of the car. i'll make him an offer and well see. if i get it i'll post photos
You generally negotiate - just like any other used or new car. Some are firm while others have factored in room for negotiation and may be willing to part for less than asking price... IMO it is prudent (if you care about your money) to find out where seller stands - sometimes you will be surprised. Jes
There's (what seems to be) an unmolested 360 Challenge ('01? I believe) up for grabs for a little over $80 G's in Agoura. I stumbled upon it while test driving a Murci in the area yesterday. Owner is willing to negotiate as it needs servicing. If I'm not mistaken, it has just under 20k miles on the clock. It's a red/red car with all the challenge goodies and gold (powder coated) challenge wheels. Lots of tasty alcantara and CF goodies. PM me your email add and I'll send you the info. --- - Ken B. posted this from his iPhone using Tapatalk.
Here are a few things to think about that may add value to the 1999 car (just my 2 cents)  Has the same dealer serviced it all its life? Someone who knows the car and sees it for yearly fluids, has completed the belt services, the major service and completed campaigns.  How and where is the car kept? Here in the midwest we only drive our f-cars in the summer then store them inside nice heated garages for the winter, temps in the summer rarely get above 90. The dash will give you many clues about the car has been cared for...  Clutch wear and brakes need to be analyzed, more so with an F1 trans, clutch can be a pricey bit to fix / replace  ECU been updated? Some of the early ones have gone back to Ferrari and been reflashed with upgrades to the engine management software.  Campaign 148 OBD connector? Campaign 97 varators? Other campaigns or recalls? Call Ferrari North America give them the vin number and they can tell you if any are outstanding.  Daytona electric seats (very comfortable)  1999 no pre-cats many think that is a good thing  Books, keys, cover and of course the all important flashlight A red/tan ready to go could be $74k ~ $82k If you find one for say $68k that needs a major with belts, pulleys and bearings, fluids, brakes, clutch, tires... now youve just gone past $80k on a great deal car. These ideas & numbers are a bit more for a red/tan F1 coupe (thats what I am in for next) Id be slightly less concerned about miles and more affected by service history and how the car was cared for.... also I am assuming it has not been sitting in a garage for the past 5 years collecting dust and not being driven, that is a completely different set of issues! Hope this helps Rick
get what u really want and what ur willing to pay...I didnt see about the moon roof i wouldnt like it but others may...65-70ish if service up to par and is in good condition with all books/keys/upgrades/history and 20k miles is NOT alot just means it didnt sit in someones garage...i did two PPIs on one local 360 and another out of state and walked away from both before gettin my 2000 nero f1...best of luck!
I think it's worth higher $60's to mid $70's depending on variables (color, services etc) I haven't seen a car in the low $60's that is either clean or no stories or decent mileage I'm toying with selling my '99 argento/black 6spd, clean, pm if interested
How's the search going? I have been hit up by some trolls that are trying to convince me my car is worth in the $50's....lol, I have never seen a clean, low mileage (<20k) 360 in the $50's.... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=302703697&dealer_id=63525477&atc_id=AT-120AE451&LNX=IPHONEEMLVDP&dealer_id=63525477&car_id=302703697 Here's a 1999 red/tan 6spd manual 25k miles that is sale pending at $78.8k.... a bit high probably
http://www.cncexotics.com/detail-1999-ferrari-360_modena-used-7334822.html Free CarFax report notes long hx of failed emissions and then passed and then again failed. Wonder why ? I would go nuts watching that CEl all the time. I have a Porsche 993 that just about always shows it's CEL (clogged SAI or bad O2 sensor(s)-four of them). Don't like the color but the stick and sunroof would be perfect. Price seems tad high though. Also, the CarFax notes the 2nd owner only had it for 24 days ! Guess the CEl drove him nuts ? Are the drilled rotors stock ? No mention in ad of the sunroof but one of the many pics shows the sunroof (sort of).
