http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7489238/joe-paterno-ex-penn-state-nittany-lions-coach-dies-85-2-month-cancer-fight I suspect contributing to his passing was a bit of a broken heart for the way things have evolved at Penn St the last several months. What an icon CFB has lost!
Yep. Hate to say it but if only he had passed a year earlier...still tarnished but then it would be "after the fact"...maybe better for his legacy...damn shame either way.
Kevin: thanks, I think this is the exact thing I read a few weeks ago, and I tend to agree with the writer. I compared Joe Pa to my M-I-L here as far as folks of that age not really grasping what was going on- some of them simply cannot relate. Not all, but a lot of 80+ folks are that way. What is curious is Sandusky was the DC? What happened to that? Any DC worth their salt would have left to coach somewhere else, he didn't. Also odd that none of his former players have said anything in his defense. What makes me sick is this Sandusky clown proclaiming his innocence - yet he said or did NOTHING to help Joe Pa when Joe needed it most back in November. Yeah, that's a true friend right there...
So Joe lived in a bubble and never watched the news since 1930 and was completely out of touch with the world we live in today. This man should never have been "shaping" people's lives if I am supposed to believe this.
