Ali stayed too long....so did Tyson....plenty of others...but this is F1...You don't have to take hits to the head/body in F1 (usually ). He's so close to Nico that either they're both crap and should be shown the door, or they're both very very good. No one is making Mercedes hire them, there are more drivers than cars, and I think they'd know more than us. So, no, IMO, MS is doing nothing to destroy his legacy. Is he at the top of his game? Impossible. He's over 40. Is he still a force to be reckoned with? Definitely....and if he never wins another GP, he'll still have more WDC than any of the current drivers for many years to come, and his work ethic still seems to be second to none. I'm more interested in seeing what Kimi will do to HIS legacy, actually.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Schumacher has gone back into F1 because he loves racing these cars. It's not all about the results anymore, he's doing it because it's fun. He gets to do what the vast majority can only dream of doing. He's not on the Playstation pretending. He's not paying multi millions to buy a retired F1 car and do track days or to take part in in classic F1 racing series against other drivers who's main qualification is that they can afford to buy and run an old F1 car, He's doing F1 for real! If you're upset that he's tarnishing his reputation, that's your problem because he doesn't give a rats rectum!, he's having fun! Also, you need to take this into consideration when you suggest Schumacher is tarnishing his reputation with his racing comeback: 1) You are talking about a driver who deliberately collided with Villeneuve in Jerez '97 to try and win the WDC . 2) On several occasions when his car was damaged at the start of a race he parked his car on the racing line to cause a restart. 3) He drove into Hakkinen on one of the fastest sections of the track in the 2000 Belgian GP to prevent Hakkinen from overtaking him. 4) He pushed his own brother to the wall in the 2001 European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring to prevent him from overtaking. And there are many more controversies that he has been involved in. I'm pretty sure all these incidents have tarnished his reputation a lot more than his racing comeback and he certainly never seemed to give rats rectum about any of those incidents!

It's more than testing. It is getting the right people on staff, and getting them to commit to you only and not the other driver. He did a great job of that until he got to this team, now either he has less influence or he just isn't as fast anymore. One or the other.
