or, "McLaren had a bunch of unsold cars lying around and needed the $$/space"

the limited edition of a limited edition of a limited production car nonsense is getting old...

The front bumper looks horrid, as if it has an oversized grin.

    Pass.

From what I've read elsewhere, this particular "edition" is a moving out of the parts bin. Basically it's a kit to be mounted on existing models, with a revised suspension, steering, aerodynamics and interior modifications. But in other words, you essentially already have to have an SLR to start with and then McLaren is just offering 25 cars to be out-fitted in this way.

    Whoop-tee-do

With Santander gone, they have to come up with more $ to keep the F1 team running right.

When ever I see a SLR I always think of Britany Spears Beaver shot in Paris Hilton's car. I hope they disinfected that seat really well.

I'd much rather have an SLR 722, or the 722 'S', depending where you live really.

As someone who thinks the SLR McLaren is one of the best designs of all time, this thing looks like crap. What an abomination, and yes, it does look like a Mansory kit.

    a lost opportunity IMO

mclaren could have made these "last hurrah" 25 SLR, in the original way 'mclaren intended' at the start, before mercedes added the weight (automatic trans, etc) ....remember when mclaren was so proud to have built the SLR chassis so light

now that creation would be a fitting final SLR :D

    Agree with these guys.

A superficial, tarted up commemorative edition of an insignificant and poorly received car... brilliant.

...I can't get "Batmobile" out of my mind....

They should send them all to BJ Scottsdale next year as "Charity" cars.

Agreed. A lot of these companies are just beating a dead horse with countless limited editions.

In the end, someone will buy these cars. Anytime "special edition" is slapped on a car, people equate it to exclusivity.
Fast and exclusive cars usually sell....regardless of what the masses think.
    I'm just saying.........

Certainly they will be sold even if only because of its exclusivity. I think there is a hidden 'pun' there abouts in regards that production did not meet the demand thus a 'tweaking' or yet another moniker was needed to make room for the MP4-12c.

Stabbing in the dark is my M/O.

    Definitely.

    That would have been good.

    All the best,
