Hoses blew off

    Had a massive scare this evening. Driving out to the shops 300 meters from the house I was just driving off from the lights and BANG rpms drop smoke starts to come into the cabin.

    I got out of the car and kind of knew what had happened before looking inside and sure as can be both of the hoses into the manifold had blown off.

    Reattached the hoses and drove straight back home for a clean up and thorough check.

    My queries are

    1) I have attached the hoses back and it seems ok is there anything I should do to ensure they don't blow off again?

    2) There was some oil inside the manifold is that ok or should I be concerned?

    3) Should I replace the clamps with stronger ones (these ones seem loose)?

    It was a very hot day here 41c so my garage would of been 50+ with all the hoses siting there nice and warm. I wasn't even over 3000rpm when the hoses blew just changing into 2nd gear.

    Sounds like a backfire through the intake. By any chance, did you add oil to it recently?

    the car was serviced 4/5 months ago I'm not sure if that qualifies as recent?

    Car seems to be ok started this morning blew some smoke out of the exhaust. I assume it's from the oil that I saw last night. Drove it around a bit warmed her up and then drove it to 4500rpm no problem no errors and it actually runs smoother than before.

    I'm definitely getting the wurth zebra hose clamps though. The standard ferrari ones look kind of poor they aren't even the type that has a screw to tension.

    Which hoses? the ones from the airbox to the intake manifold? If so I remember someone else on here had the exact same issue. Weird.

    This happened to me a couple of years ago when driving my friends 360 Spider. He was in the car as well and we had just started to drive when we heard a bang. The speed and rpm was very low when this happened. Weird…

    You have overfilled the oil. you should have the manifolds cleaned an oil changed,

    Go get some Wurth Zebra hose clamps and replace all of them on the air intake path!!!!!!

    Then drive that beast hard and enjoy!!!!!

    I spoke to Wurth this morning but apparently the Australian division only imports the 9mm 70-90mm clamp. I believe that the 80-100 is recommended. Does anyone know if the 70-90 will fit?

    It's a sign telling you to chuck a CS kit on! It's been very hot (42c tomorrow) perhaps take it a little easy these hot days :) hope all goes well though

    These things can come off over time on their own (if not checked for tightness with service, etc). He should check the oil level to be safe, but they can come off on their own as well just from use...
