    Hi Everyone -

I just picked up my 360 Spider from Steve Barney at Sport Auto last Saturday. I've driven it home (90+ miles) and took it for a short ride the following day (60 miles).

It's been raining since I got the car, including the entire ride home, and tomorrow it's expected to be relatively warm and partly cloudy. Time for an initial "IT'S MINE" ride tomorrow.

So, what route do I take starting in Raleigh, NC? The local law enforcement has been VERY aggressive lately. I'm not looking to tempt fate, but I do want an appropriate route - visually stunning, lots of long winding roads, and as few traffic lights as possible.

I was thinking of heading to VIR on route 15/501 to 57. May be a bit of traffic at the start, and not a pure single lane road, but passable. It does get a lot more interesting as you approach VIR. About 70 miles each way, 1.5 hours at the speed limit and normal traffic.

Also thinking of riding near the dam, but enforcement of speed limit has been very aggressive lately. Same situation for the ride up Creedmoor to Oxford. Taking 64 toward Asheboro near the lake also can be a problem. Not too interested in riding toward Wilmington - too many highway type routes.

I've waited 30+ YEARS for this ride - I'd like it to be as memorable as possible.

    Any suggestions?

Congrats on your new car! I asked a similar question about driving roads in the Raleigh area a few months back and got this reply.

Did you get that beautiful Silver 6-speed on the website?

Nice choice. How about some pictures in its new home.

    Enjoy!

I bought the car from Steve Barney at www.sportauto.us You can get details by going to the site, selecting inventory, and clicking on the 2001 360 spider listing.

Look up Woods Creek Rd near Apex. There are lots of decent roads out there, but that is one of the better ones in terms of elevation change and turns. It used to be woods on both sides almost the whole way, but I haven't been on it in a year or two, so things could have changed.

Both Beaver Creek Rd. and New Hill Olive Chapel Rd. (751) heading South from 64 are decent as well.

Green Level Rd heading West off of 55 is a good starting point if you are trying to string some roads together. Be careful for gravel and there are always a few boring stretches between the good stuff.

    Have fun!!
