    The Ford DP's have the HP and are fastest on the straights.

    Ferrari needs another yellow to get back onto the same lap as the Porsche's which are running 1/2/3.

    Running 1/2/3 at Daytona. Been too long since Ferrari has run 1/2/3 at Daytona...

    Any idea why the drastic performance differece? Is the 458 just not dialed in yet as a race car?

    Same here. When it comes to racing I'm a "fan" (though not a fanatic) and not a participant. While at the track yesterday, in most cases, it was difficult to tell which car was which unless you had the color schemes memorized. In addition, most viewing positions were quite distant as well.

    Well, it is my opinion ;)

    HP caused by restriction mandated by Grand AM.

    Generally the Porsche's are also slipperier (less drag) but are still fast enough in the turns/infield to lead.

    It looks like the Risi 458 might still have a shot, race isn't over yet.

    Jim, I think the 458s are showing incredibly well vs. the Pcars. they have the pace, both in qualifying and the race. Two 458s qualified in the top 5 and right now, they are within 2/10ths of the fastest lap by a 911.

    granted, it's a new car to the series so it's not fully developed. Porsche has the upper hand in development, durability, and numbers...there are 5x as many 911s as 458s in the field :) but I don't think the Ferraris are at a fundamental disadvantage. remember, the current 997 cup car has 7 or 8 seasons of development under its belt.

    things will get interesting next year, when the 458 and R8 have a year of development under their belts and (presumably) the 991 Cup car will debut :D

    That shows you what the heck I know (not much). Thanks for the clarification.

    I thought the Chevy (#5, #10, #90, #99, etc) was all in house.

    On a side note, I'm glad they gave some mention to Gianpierro Moretti. I had some concerns as they didn't mention anything up until an hour ago.

    Hahaha! SO true. I was watching that myself. No urgency in throttle, brake or steering inputs... That's ok, the car wouldnt be out there without him!

    1:48.8 versus fastest GT lap in the 23 GT3 1:48.4

    Anyone else catch the comment where Porsche sells about 2400 9xx cars JUST for the 20 racing series around the world a year ?

    On a smaller note , did anyone notice a shot in one of the Continental tire ads with the cars on a track , briefly shooting over a tire wall where you could clearly read "Firehawk" and "BF Goodrich" on tires at the top of a couple stacks , I found it funny in another companies ad.
