CampioniShop is SuperSprint's newly appointed distributor in North America for Porsche, MB AMG, Ferrari, Lotus, Aston Martin, Bentley Maserati and Audi S/RS applications.

SuperSprint has been under represented in the USA in the last few years and we are here to change that. They are one of the world's biggest exhaust manufacturer and provide many OEM and OE tuner with exhaust systems.

    About Supersprint:

The engineers at Supersprint realize that for maximum performance, exhaust development must begin at the exhaust ports of the cylinder head. This is why Supersprint has the largest variety of racing header systems in the world today. Each header incorporates CNC laser cut port matched flanges. Primary tubes are mandrel bent using the latest CNC tube bending equipment. With special tooling Supersprint has been able to keep weld joints to a minimum for added reliability.

The fully appointed R&D department uses the latest in prototyping equipment along with the reliability and accuracy of a MAHA "all wheel drive" chassis dyno. With over 50 years in performance exhaust development they have earned the confidence of many of Europe's most respected tuners. Most units are 100% stainless steel.

Is your header config as: 4-2-1? I "think" it looks like 4-1 from the pic, correct?

    Thanks

    4-1

Attached you will find pictures of the F430 headers followed by the 360 headers.

SuperSprint will provide us with additional detailed pictures of the system early next week :)

I would like to bring your attention to the spring loaded merge collectors - these allow for heat expansion and management, a very important factor on the mid-engined Ferraris!

Can you advise what heat shielding you are providing for the 360/430 headers?

p.s. I really like the spring loaded merge collectors

I noticed that there is no start up air injection ports or air rails like the stock unit. This could be an issue in the US for someone using them. Also, there are flat flanges at the inlet that aren't connected. It is my understanding that this can cause sealing issues on heating and cooling since they aren't always flat and true after welding. How do you overcome this with this design?

We are awaiting that information from SuperSprint.

I have forwarded your question to SuperSprint - would you be able to specify which flange you are referring to? Did you mean the 02 bungs ?

I am not sure what they are referred to technically but they are the interconnections between the flanges like the OEM headers. They are cast and interconnect the exhaust tubing to keep the welding of the tubes straight and flat. I know that Fabspeed emphasizes that they have a superior design because of this.

SuperSprint headers are mounted with HJS 1st grade FIA approved 100 CPSI metallic racing catalytic converters which allow a CEL free usage.

Fabspeed headers however do not address the need for headers and the whole exhaust line to independently flex from the engine under severe stress and high heat conditions.

Anyone considering a full exhaust upgrade should couple it with an ECU tune to adjust the A/F, timing and other parameters that will be influenced with the installation of headers.

Let's be honest here, air injection is mandatory as smog equipment for a 360 in the US. You can't pass smog in several states without air injection. Also, air injection isn't about a CEL it is about startup emissions and the EPA.

That is highly dependent on the state you are located in. Various states have OBDII emission tests - which any CEL free car will pass. A few states have "sniff" tests, which catted systems will still pass as well.

So in other words you are saying that if we want to buy these headers you have to purchase the entire system and that may require the ECU reprogramming. That can get expensive and still not pass a sniff test in several states.

I am not saying one is better than the other in regards to flex but I do know that older hooker headers and such had a problem with leaks at the flange due to the fact that they could flex.

No, this is a modular system, you can either fit the headers only, or the headers with cat pipes. You do not need the muffler to go along with it. If being smog friendly is a priority for the customer, we will highly recommend the catted system, however this depends on his state's emission tests.

The spring loaded merge collectors from SuperSprint are a far cry from hooker headers, the flanges allow for enough play for heat expansion and contraction while the loaded springs retain an appropriate seal.

Here's an example of the collectors unmounted on C63 AMG, another engine that develops a LOT of heat related problems.

Agreed that high flow cats don't generally fail the tests for emissions levels after they are warmed up and the CEL problems can be managed in several ways. HOWEVER, several state require visual inspection in addition to either or both of the test you list. THAT is where they fail.

I appreciate new products and new sponsors for Fchat. I am only pushing this issue because you are making it sound like these are legal everywhere in the US and that just isn't true. The information presented is true BUT is skips some key details and in doing so confiscates the risks.

About the only place someone would run into issues is CA. Most other states have no clue what a Ferrari cat looks like and those look like cats so they should pass visual inspection and as long as gas level are fine

That is incorrect. The air rails are there because U.S. cars need them to heat the cat during a cold start. It has nothing to do with the fact that our headers do not have pre-cats. A U.S. 360 that has headers without air rails will get a CEL that is unrelated to the P00420 and P00430 cat efficiency codes.

If there is no problem with flange expansion why are they on the 430 headers bu not the 360? Also, high flow cats as you mentioned do not cause inspection failure or create CEL's. This is an additional component that you need from what you said and I think you will still get codes on US cars.

the 360 headers have spring-loaded flange connections just like the 430s, or so the pics would seem to suggest. i think he's saying that the heat does cause expansion on both cars (as well as MB's C63) which is why all of them have springed connections.

    Agreed.

    See below.

Correct. All mid-engined Ferrari V8 SuperSprint headers have stand alone - new stainless steel heat shields and spring loaded merge collectors. The V12 cars (550/575/599/612) did not require it as we designed long tube headers and moved the cats further downstream which allowed SuperSprint to move the major heat source away.

These headers were originally designed on Euro cars - since SuperSprint is an Euro based company.

    Here's a exact copy paste from their lead engineer that emailed us this morning;

"The design of the V12 SS headers + metallic cats, with their high volume and excellent flow rate, their strategic placement away from the engine heads, draws the major source of heat away from the engine bay.

During our R&D process, we always perform a great amount of dyno and road test, under the most demanding load conditions, in order to ensure that our exhaust is safe.
Of course, this had been done on all of the Ferrari models, including the 550, the 575, the 612 and the 599.

When needed, on some selected models only, we do supply a specific heat shield kit for our headers (see the 355/360/430). Many Ferrari owners and service dealers are concerned with performance headers systems for their cars. We are aware of this.

From what we have seen, he most problems have come from the oem exhaust headers causing total car burndowns, as it often happens on the 458s. The Supersprint headers never have caused this, and never will, if installed properly.

We do not recommend ceramic coating our headers.Ceramic coating basically is a high temp, durable paint job, which It does not add any real barrier. Metal sheet heat shields are the only way to move a portion of the heat away from the area surrounding the headers. Again, we build and supply those shields, if we see the need to do so."

We will have detailed pictures of the headers with heat shields shortly.

For anyone that would be interested - SuperSprint is looking for a set of US headers to develop the air rail system and adapt heat shields.

In return, they will provide the customer with a set of SuperSprint headers at their cost.

Pictures of the heat shields to come within the next days.

I have a set of headers that are off the car. I assume they would return the OEM headers after they measure them? PM me the details.

Yes sir, OEM headers + the new SuperSprint headers as well if you decide to take our offer on a "cost" set. You would of course decide if you want the headers at cost upon completion of R&D. We will figure out the exact details with SuperSprint and get back to you shortly.

    Thank you for your help!
