speaking of badges, were the early lamborghini and countach scripts painted or anodized black?

Ours have been plated brass (to look like gold LOL) and there's no evidence of either.

i know it would cost some $ more to get a good carbed car with euro look, but whenever you would want or need to sell the car, you would get all money back (and may be more...)

Funny you ask this, on my recent Low Body S2 barn find I aquaired, it also had the "Brass-plated" look, as if to be gold on the back "scripts". When I sent pics and all info to Valentino, he confirmed that that was an "option" for the car at the time. Since the car is 100% un-touched orginal...I had to ask him. I had never seen it prior. This car wil retain them and it is OEM. It also is a One of One interior color that Valentino remembers fondly with a big laugh..saying none of the Factory people could understand why this color choice, but they did just about anything a customer wanted back in the day.

Currently close to completion of just a 100% mechanical go through to bring it road worthy, has been sitting for quite a few years. But I am NOT touching anything else on it, leaving at is, the interior and the body/paint are in quite good condition.

I did source brand new tires of course AND I am going to put on a set of orginal OEM Bravo "telephone dial" wheels on it that I had in storage. I will leave the orgianl P7 tires on the orgianl wheels for either show or future owners desire to do as they wish.

Hi Tim, I would not know about the rear scripts, on #1120002 they were matt black I think.
The word Countach should be were the SV badges were before on your car. But since your car also has some of the very special early features, like those early badges and the headrests, no paint above the little side window, it would not surprise me if your car was also originally fitted with the little Bertone badges onder the doorline. I don't know if these badges are glued, but there also might be some little holes drilled for them. Did you see some little holes anywhere when the car was stripped Tim? I'm just curious ;-) Looks like #1120002 and #1120004 are two kinda experimental pre-production cars, after these two, all cars looked the same standard production. Ciao! Marcel

    Very nice Emilio.

Judging by all the happy 288 GTO owners you've made with the Megaphonos, I feel sure these will go across well!

Marcello: the rear scripts are screwed to the rear panel via drilled holes and the screws are mounted from inside the rear trunk (under the lining).

The factory would finish the scripts in absolutely any way the customer wanted: painted, anodized, chromed, you name it... just like the interior or the paint, whatever the customer wanted.

Thanks for the info Joe! How about this Countach? Looks like Monaco registered TT 13 plate, with white rims, white painted ducts, vents and even a white rear wing!! Yikes!! Anybody ever seen this car before? Whatever the customer wanted...indeed ;-)

I am always motivated to sell the right car at the right price. We have talked about the 87 FI car and you know where i am on that one, once it is ready to go, should be by the end of February.

Here is the one I was refering to today, the 2 valve carbed car I also have on my site.

    http://www.catsexotics.com/web/1317/vehicle/980642/1983-Lamborghini-Countach%205000S-2%20Valve%20Side%20Draft%20Carb%20V-12

The Low Body S2 is currently not for sale, but keep the offers coming, I am sure we will get to a price point that I will let it go as well, but it wont be complete till end of February as well, maybe mid March.

Have to make room for three others inbound

    1988 1/2 DD Countach
    1987 FI
    1989 Anniversary

Going back to the badge question, in my experience the black is painted on, once you strip the paint it seems you can polish them up to look like brass, so yours might simply be unpainted???

    Jason,
It depends on your wallet. An 87 FI should be around the 100k area for a good example. The black carbed car that Roy has had on ebay is priced in the ballpark + he will entertain offers as per his ebay auction. So right there you have a an approx 40k-50k difference.
If you look for an earlier car the difference will swell even more.

It really depends on how much you want to spend. You can get into a Countach for 80k or you can get into one at $375,000+
....and as I have said and preached before.... carbed or FI, it's a Countach and NO Countach should be looked down upon.

Funny thing is when I have seen people at shows walk a line of Countachs, no one see a price difference they just see an expensive exotic.

Don't sweat if you don't get one right away, there always has been another. 1 or 2 Countachs pops up on ebay and elsewhere every month.

Also, when we had the 40th reunion and aaaaaallllllll those Countachs were lined up....there were no value difference. Just twenty something Countachs parked.

That day when 1121006, the first completed Countach S, production #2, a Series One Lowbody was parked next to or near a 90k FI and a 125k Anniversary.........not one car was better than the other!

    From an lp400 to the Anniversary, it's a Countach...period :)

Very true Peter.......but which would you rather have? :) A Countach is a Countach but some are certainly more desireable to some than others...which is why prices are not the same.

i do not look down on any countach version: they are all nice imo

this said, i think THIS is the last time to get a carbed countach for a "reasonable" amount of money.... while i think there is still time to get a nice FI car

i would try to secure a nice LP400S, 5000S or DD before it is too late. my 0.02 $
