Your welcome. I wonder if anyone else has vintage photos from that period. I have some pics from the late 80s early 90s but nothing from the 70s... I just wish we had pics of all the people in their bell bottoms....

That green (verde scuro) Daytona Spider is #16799. It went new to Bill Knauz Continental Cars. In the meantime repainted re-sale red and living in Germany. The yellow Daytona Berlinetta is most probably #16943.

That's a shame, the Daytona Spyder looks stunning in that color combination. My recollection is that MSRP was $24,000 or so and dealers had a tough time selling them. A friend bought a new spyder from Algar in 1976, they had the car for 2 years.

Out of a total of 121 Daytona Spiders built (plus 1 prototype) only three were originally painted Verde Scuro (dark green).

Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the internet sometimes. I like the car.

Looks like I was high as it was only $24K..............and at that price it could have been pink for all I'd care.

It's like an automotive horror show, other than the Ferrari stand and maybe a few others like the Triumph TR6.

I think if you added up the current value of every other car pictured, they might not be worth one Daytona (coupe).

I took a lot of pictures at the Chicago Auto Show around that time and I will have to do some digging to see if I can find them. The import cars were displayed in the lower level at McCormick Place and out of the way for many of the people there. Lambo had an Espada there the year I was there and FIAT had a fairly large display.

Thanks for posting the link. I disagree about an automotive horror show, this was a great trip in time. I enjoyed seeing all the pics and cars, the gremlin, the old style Econoline Ford, the Fiats, etc. There probably wasn't a car on the whole thing I wouldn't enjoy (in that condition). But I'm a fan of all cars. I'd take a Pinto in my collection. The AMC collection was a lot of fun.

Only two Daytona Spiders were originally painted Bianco Polo Park with a Rosso VM 3171 interior. This one here, from the LA Auto Expo 1974, is #16901 and was sold new via MCM Modern Classic Motors in Reno/NV to Vandagriff's Hollywood Sport Cars who sold it to Sonny & Cher.

These might be of interest. The BB Boxer was shown in North America @ the '73 LA Auto Expo.Immediately after the show, they trucked the show car to the Art Center College of Design campus on 3rd St. in LA.The car was on the front lawn, complete with it's "burlap" fabric on the seats. That car caused quite a stir amongst us future "car shaders" !

    Fabulous! Thank you very much.
THIS is the Pininfarina prototype, which was never a complete and running car.
Typical with the seats in "potato sack" cloth.

The thing that really struck me was the amount of "front overhang". "Potato Sack" cloth......great description!!
