Those wheels suit that car so well. Enjoy it.
I took some pics of the Ferrari and Porsche together today, thought I would share... Love the racing seats! Adnd the porsche looks so narrow next to the wide 360 Enjoy that baby in good health!
Thanks! Yep, it's impressive how much lower and wider the Ferrari is vs even the wide body Porsche models (although what is even more impressive is that I fit even better in the Ferrari than I do in the Porsche, despite being 6'6'' tall! In fact, I don't even use the last 1'' of seat rail potential in the Ferrari, although I bet the thin CF race seats help in that regard vs the Daytona style). I can definately tell a difference wrt to ease of pulling into my single garages, parking spaces, ect. The Porsche is just a tiny little thing that can be whipped around with full visability from all angles including reverse. Parking the Ferrari in tight spots requires more attention, especially while reversing! I've got some pics somewhere of the Ferrari next to my Infiniti G35 coupe and it's funny how the Ferrari makes a "normal sized sport coupe" look like that old VW retro van
I installed the CS TCU yesterday and it's pure magic, completely transformed the car, it feels very modern now compared to the F430 and Scud I drove in Vegas. Dramatically faster and more crisp upshifts, and aggressive throttle blips on downshifts throughout the entire rev band now. Rest of my review is in the CS TCU thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313830 In other news, I have the full 360 stock interior aluminum pieces (guage cluster, stereo panel, center counsel, door sills, door trim), as well as stock black airbox covers, as well as stock 360 wheels with tires (two of the rims have bad curb rash from a prior owner, will let go cheap), and I may even sell the original tool book and full manual set that goes in the front trunk if the price is right. I'll be posting these parts in the ads section and have pics, but if anyone is intersted, PM me now. Finally, happy 11th birthday to her; she's not showing her age yet! Pic is from today after a wash and spirited drive blasting through gears with the new CS TCU . Image Unavailable, Please Login
I know the black wheels are the latest trend but I just don't see anything I like better than the 430 wheels on a 360 - without regard to the car color. I just love the way they look and contrast with the cars color........congratulations....exceptional looking car.
Mike, your car is perfect. Not just saying that, it really is a perfect BALANCE. Personally, I prefer the original 5 spoke 360 wheels over the Modular's, CS', 430's, and all HREs or whatevers I have seen on the 360. I love them that much! But your car pulls off the 430 wheels with the racing seats, challenge grill, and carbon fibre interior beautifully. Huge congratulations! Where are you now with the yellow tach mod? Call me crazy but I am thinking of painting yellow calipers, yellow engine covers, and perhaps a yellow tach will round it off evenly. Yet I cannot take that seriously now as I wish to perform my mechanical work first (major/clutch jobs).
Mike, the car is looking great! I am not sure I would sell the interior parts, just in case at re-sale, buyer wants stock look. I know its crazy, but the those things can slow a sale. Just some food for thought.
50hdmc, thanks. I agree and just sold the black 19'' rims that came with the car yesterday. They are very cool rims, but I've always preferred the classic look from stock wheels, especially from the newer model (which is also what I did with 997tt wheels on my 996tt). mowater, now that the CS TCU is in, the yellow tach is my next mod. I bookmarked the new thread on this subject http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=353557 as I'd like to have a cavallino (prancing horse) on there (like the oem CS yellow tach) as well. That will probably be the last thing I do to the car. Not in a rush, haven't ordered anything yet, but I'll do it by spring. I like the idea of yellow calipers, but I'm not paying the $1k+ or whatever crazy price for the little cosmetic switch when the red ones look like new, especially since I'm not really inclined to take the calipers off myself, mail them out and be without the car! I'm not a fan of a yellow plenum (engine) covers; classic red is perfect (especially with a red car!).
I've thought about that point, but I'm about 99% sure no buyer is ever going to want to pull the CF out of the car and put the stock pieces back in (plus I have no plans to ever sell this car before it hits 100k+ miles). I've seen people list/get $1.2k-$1.5k for the full stock interior parts (and I'll throw in stock airbox covers if they are wanted) that are otherwise just taking up space in my garage. That is almost 2% of the price I paid for the car just to have lying around (of course it also represents about the price of any individual piece of carbon fiber in there, but thankfully that was paid for by a prior owner ). I am more on the fence about selling the leather tool kit and owner's manual stuff. I already took it out of the trunk b/c there is no reason in my mind to have a couple extra pounds of weight up there taking up space with stuff I'll never use (assuming I find a PDF of the 360 owners manual online, I haven't looked). I'll probably keep it, but people seem to think it's worth $500-$750, which I view as a pile of cash collecting dust in the garage as well . .
Mike, The car looks really nice. Great news on the CS TCU! Glad to hear that cured the miss shifting. I bet you get another 3000+ miles on the clutch now. It really makes me sad to see the car, the weather here has been perfect! I would sell the stock interior parts too ( you would have still bought my car without those parts wouldnt you?), I would hang onto the books though, if you do sell it (for some odd reason) the books will not only increase resale value but also make it alot easier to sell. Again, congrats on the car, really happy you are enjoying it. I feel good knowing she is in good hands.
- hmm seems to me the yellow tach is more work than it really is worth but that's just me! - whoa, it costs 1k to paint the calipers? i do mine for ~$250 (pic attached of my 993 painted yellow calipers) - totally get what you're saying with the yellow engine covers, has to be seen before committing i'm sure! Sweet 993! As for calipers, two of my 996tt's red calipers have the coating flaking off and a little faded. The prices I got for a set were from $900 - $1200, and that was if I took them off, paid for shipping both ways, and put them back on myself. It just wasn't worth it to me. Let me know where you are able to get the calipers done in a professional manner for $250 and I'll likely do it for the Porsche. I would like those to be yellow .
thanks mate it's a 96 targa that i am about to wrap up on with new brakes and be done with it. below are some before/after pics, seeing as this is YOUR thread and you ARE a porsche owner it's not technically entirely hijacking haha as for $250 for doing the calipers, come to Kuwait lol this is a shot of my 360 tonight, and i'll work on getting a similar on in daylight to finally make up my mind about whether or not to do them in yellow. i believe the shields already being there creates the space for more yellow Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I used a simple piece of steel wool to rub off the flaking paint on the decade old key. It came out really nice, took about a half hour while watching the SuperBowl. I used a razor blade to carefully pop off the cavallino (horse) and then basic super glue to get it back on. I am planning to paint the other key red. The little Ferrari keychain part was bought on Ebay for $2.99 from China, damn nice for the price if you ask me. I got one for my 911 and it's even nicer and double sided, but I did have to shell out a hefty $3.79 for that one. If anyone knows a cheap place to get the fob leather stitched pouches, let me know as I'd like to buy one for the spare key. looks great, well done did you consider the yoshi shield keychain? i bought one in 2006 for my 355 when i was in the uk and it looks new still! deep colours and top notch quality, yet very light btw any leads ona blank 360 key?
I read in a formum - may have been this one that an Alfa key blank works for a 360. I'll have a search and see if I can find a link.
No idea about blank 360 keys. I like the shield keychain better for sure...I just got the one I got b/c I had like $4 in ebay ebucks that were expiring and figured why not . I used 3m sandblaster medium 120 sandpaper to strip down the second key. It was about 5x as fast and dramatically easier vs just the steel wool. It left a different, albiet still very cool, finish. It's hard to tell the difference in the pictures, but the sandpaper one is much lighter and a little more rough to the touch. It feels more rugged and naked. The steel wool one is more polished looking and very smooth to the touch, feels like how it should have felt originally IMO. I'm not entirely sure I want to paint the sandpaper one red anymore, rather than just have the two different naked keys. The one on the left is the steel wool, and on the right is the sandpaper. Hey Mike........hang onto the tool kit in the trunk. Someday you will likely sell your car and having the kit will add value to your car in more ways than you think.
