Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

Does anyone know if there is a limit set to the amount
of tickets which may be bought?

Also, do any other series have the GP weekend appearing
on their schedules as undercard events?

Off topic from the thread.....There's probably a number of people on the board that can do this, but I have a close friend who is an incredible graphics designer that just started his own t-shirt company. I have no affiliation with his company but I would throw his name into the ring if the site ends up looking for someone to print up some stuff.

Not off topic because the main concept is in regards too this race imho but I do not make the final call.

The basic idea for 'my idea' was just so forum members could meet each other etc etc and I'm certain many of us here could get it done yet I would like to wait and see what takes place so there are no stepping on toes. Still 10 months to go and imho a first run will sellout in no time yet then again it all depends on what happens.

I'm on. Plus my wife always wanted to go to Texas. She is not a big racing fan, but has been chewing my ear off about finding a place to teach her how to line dance. You point me in the right direction and the beer is on me.

We've done that. We have a ballpark number. I guess your saying make a public offer and see if it will sell?

I was just hoping to hear "speculation" about what a package like that is worth compared to other options.

"tip over cows and spook horses" lol
they wouldn't be making it back across the pond

seems the psl allows you to purchase as many seats as you want. why doesn't fchat purchase a psl. that way we all can get our tickets through that license and everyone can sit together. we could get one of those big ferrari shield banners.

the $100 was to go on a waiting list to purchase a PSL. That wouldn't gurantee an unlimited number of seats, just the ability to purchase as many PSLs as you wanted.

I'd be suprised if they sold a PSL for every seat in the grandstand.

So its a win win for me. I get to laugh at my wife and she can't say anything, while in return I get to watch a live F1 race with petrolheads while she minds the kids. It is almost like winning the lottery. LOL

I went to both the 2000 & 2001 Indy F1 races. In 2000, I had Paddock Club pass with Ferrari and raced in the Ferrari Challenge, 2001 was just the Paddock Club...Anyway, one of the days when I was heading into the Paddock Club Area I saw a small group of guys. Good 'Ol Boys. They were drinking beers with their flannel shirts and out for a good time.

Except they were up in arms angry at these cute little British girls at the Paddock Club entry because they couldn't get it. They didn't get it. They didn't understand the price or why they were not allowed full access. Those poor girls tried to explain the whole concept of the Paddock Club and it just wasn't working.

Been to Indy my entire life... My guess is they were playing "stupid" to try and sneak in. This works a lot at big races... One year I was under the pagoda in the drivers meeting with my uncle against the back wall while the Chaplain was leading a prayer for all of the drivers. I definitely wasn't "supposed" to be there. Works also while turning a cold pass into a hot pass to a hardcard for staying out on the track during the start of the engines. They do a great job at security, however as long as you're not causing trouble, most people just dont have the bandwidth to deal with you.

“Apparently we are not doing a very good job of marketing since 5 of you have come up to ask me if and when we will start construction on the Circuit of the Americas. Well, I’m here to tell you that we are about 30% of the way done already.”

If it took a year to get 30% finished, can the other 70% be done in 10 months (forget the inspection period)?

I definitely think so as 30% is quite good imho considering the delays with the first part of the construction, heck I would say 20% of the 30% has been accomplished since they resumed construction.

It partly depends on how they defined 30% complete. If they defined it in terms of dollars spent and the most expensive items remain, then it might not be a problem. Even if it is in terms of schedule progress this may not be a problem if many remaining work items can be worked on simultaneously.
