Just curious how many Scud owners remove their fire extinguishers? How do your wives / significant others like the reduced leg movement room? Wonder what the weight savings is if removed?

Ordered a couple mat sets, the Alcantara one's that now come with the longer screws, black horse, red stitching to match my black car when I show it, and a driving set from Nick's Forza, black with red binding and 430 Scuderia emblem in place of the horse.

Would think it's easier to just remove it and store it so my passengers don't scuff it up?

Not a scud, but my CS has the F/E. I haven't seen any issues with GF's shoes/feet hitting it...

The Previous owner of my scud had it moved to the front boot area....he requested the service department relocate it (reported in service record)....I bought the Andrew mats with the square cut outs for the screws and it was moved back to the orginal location. Many countires require an extinguisher to be in the passenger compartment i.e Europe....It is very bulky...believe they could have done a better job of a more compact one.

Just ordered them, great communication. Just did pay pal with him, think my set was around $450 shipped. I will just use them for show though, too nice to mess up.

Totally removed mine and ordered Andrew mats to cover up original spot.

GF thought it limited leg room and also 'must mean that the car isn't safe and is likely to catch fire' Hahahah.

Now that it has gone, I think she forgot all about it.

    LOL!

[although, sadly she may be on to something...see the thread herein that has some burned up Scud parts for sale...calm down folks - I know its rare...just burning ferrari's get a lot of press and then you see the F/E and some folks just make a conclusion...]

Still even though the poor guy who recently lost his Scuderia to fire probably had the extinguisher, he didn't have time to use it, his first thoughts were probably I need to get the heck out of the car, so in that example, the extinguisher is worthless.

Exactly, totally agree. I think the consensus is GTFO if there is a fire and let it burn. The F/E isn't going to do much in most cases and you may get hurt and of course I doubt many folks would want to own a repaired previously burned up car!

Not all of Europe. No requirement in UK for extinguisher and Scuds didn't have them as standard fitment.

Black I believe, flash probably makes them look grey. Mine will look like those, black horse, red stitching.

I removed my fire extinguisher. Not just foot room for my wife, but for her handbag as well which is the size of a small suitcase!

You can also search eBay for Ferrari mats, that's how I got into contact with him. He is very thorough and will confirm everything with you before you order.

I'd be the first to disagree then. Of course if the fire broke out and within an instant became a frigging fireball, get the hell out of the car. But most of the cases it starts with signs of smoke, which gives the driver/passenger sufficient time to pull out the extinguisher and attempt to put out the fire. It all boils down to driver confidence/competence. I've friends who refuse to put on their four point harnesses which they specified in their Scuderias coz they believe if they were to crash into another vehicle it would be difficult to get out. Not to mention the few who swear by god not to switch to RACE mode as they believe that would unleash some god almighty-like whipass performance which they can never harness.

A 2.25L bottle, like those in the Scuds, is more than sufficient to put out a small fire if you manage to catch it early. If its a real hassle, have it relocated in the bonnet space but have it converted into an automatic system with nozzles positioned at strategic points in the engine bay. Hate to see another Scuderia, or Ferrari reduced to ashes.

8 years ago a 2.25L bottle saved my track R33 VSpec from burning into a crisp just because of a lame wire that broke loose when the clips cracked. The wire landed on the heat shield of the turbocharger and within seconds my cabin was filled with smoke. I got out in time to put out the fire, of course after killing the switch. All I lost was a stupid wire, a scarred heat shield, burn marks on the underneath of the carbon fibre bonnet and a slightly melted open pod K&N filter. That to me is a happy ending.
