Fixed; see http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=335990 My scripted reply... Reality reply... Easy way to build post count under the guise of being helpful present and future...given that my efforts in PG-13 go unappreciated in the post count envy battle...thus I retaliate with disturbing images of twisted and burnt beauties of another kind!
There may be some nice parts on this car but who cobbled that thing together. Intercooler in the trunk...really??? What is all that other stuff back there? Almost looks like an electric water pump and a fuel pump? I wouldn't mind scooping up those seats if I could get them cheap though. I always thought that style would look good in my car.
Jeezus did you see the Testarossa on there? What kind of hell did that car go through?? http://www.copart.com/c2/homeSearch.html?_eventId=getLot&execution=e2s1&lotId=28028151&returnPage=SEARCH_RESULTS
John, That's funny. When I first glanced at the pictures, I thought it was the intercooler and stuff "thrown" in the trunk. After reading your post I went back and looked and realized it was mounted there- WTF???!!! I'll go in on it, but I want the seats too!!!!
Yep, given the high level of fab work it's surprising that the damage is "BURN - ENGINE". If anyone here buys it to part-out I'll start the bidding at $1 for the "turbo" badge.
I thought the same thing until I realized it was actually plumbed in there!! Looks like some kind of ignition system on the left too.
Looks wholly fixable to me, provided you have a new engine and transmission to put in it. Would make a decent driver you would not have to worry about once you got all the 288 CRAP and silly aftermarket wheels off it. And for $5K current bid, not bad.
Lucky, bid $6500,a lot to work with here, some nice wheels, body, interior,an easy rod job for The Luckster, and you can show the canuck farmer how really its done. The GTO rear fender slats look OEM,very cool, should go in the high teens$
Here is a matching spoiler for the GTO "light" http://www.ebay.com/itm/160729509141 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Buy that Testarossa now for only $2000!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-Ferrari-Testarossa-BEST-PRICE-UNIVERSE-Shazam-Chance-Lifetime-/110827076632?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19cdcefc18
An easy way to tell a replica from a real one, just in case it's not obvious. One company that does kits mostly for tracking to get tire width is Berlinetta Motors. They don't seem at all motivated to produce GTO replicas and have some incredible restorations. But I've never done business with them. http://www.berlinettamotorcars.com/ferrari288GTOconversionkit.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anyone know what this car sold for at Copart? It would be a fun driver to "play" with. I've always loved the looks of the 288GTO.
