serial number 5159GT. The only one built with a 3 liter motor, later changed to a 275. A lot of differences between this one and the later "production" series.

You mean 5149 GT, not 5159 GT (that would be a Lusso).

Lovely! Yes, this is the first 250 LM built, #5149, at the XLV Turin Motor Show held October 30 to November 20, 1963. Thank you for this great photo.
A very similar photo, same car, same location, but in color, can be found on page 91 of "Automobile Year", issue #11 of 1963-1964.

That Lusso and 250LM give me pangs of desire. Wow, the styling is just.... Strange that you can still be struck by that after seeing them so many times already.

The back of the photo has a stamp that is difficult to read, but the best I can decipher is: Comm R.Bertassini 1963 via Calandra,12-tel.88.23.40. I'm guessing it is the photographer's stamp.

I'm glad you feel that way. Those cars are excellent examples of true automotive "art".One of the things I try to instill in my students is the "beauty" part of automotive design.Granted ,it's in the eye of the beholder, but the Lusso & the 250 LM will ALWAYS be beautiful cars,IMHO.That set of photos was taken by General Motors France.

Not sure if this really qualifies as an "old photo" but it's a fun shot any way.
25 years ago: Some of Pierre Bardinon's cars at the spectacular Cartier special exhibit near Paris in May 1987.

Here is 340 MM Spider Vignale 0284 AM being prepared at the Factory Assistenza Clienti at Viale Trento Trieste in Modena before the XXI Le Mans 24 hours in June 1953. Car was two-tone painted blue and white (bottom), note the new flat single windscreen and the flaps on the rear wheel arches. A few days later owner Thomas Lionel Howard Cole (Tom Cole) was killed in this car at the Maison Blanche bend in Le Mans (Sunday morning, 14th June 1953, at 6.14 am).

Not sure this is permissible here but if the moderator allows it, just a heads up for a freshly emerged cache of original Geoffrey Goddard photographic prints - including assorted Ferrari and Ferrari-related shots - currently beginning to appear on eBay UK, under 'Motorsport Memorabilia'...375, 312B, 275LM, etc...

    No replicas there...

Thanks, Doug. I'll have a look for sure. I'm an admirer of Geoff Goddard's work as well as yours.

I took this photo at Imola, Italy, in September 1983, during the legendary Ferrari Days.
Sorry, it is only 29 years old and thus probably doesn't really qualify for this thread.

    Correct.
Shown at that meeting by Roberto Crepaldi, son of Gastone Automobili S.a.s. of Milan. At the time it was still for sale by Crepaldi, they were asking 80 Million Lire. It then went to a major collection in Sparks, NV/USA.

What is that to the left of the 3-posti? Doesn't look like a regular Dino.
