and will race in future (if ferrari starts historic challenge again) ooh and at Le Mans Classic a few years ago was an alloy Daytona comp conversion that was not the real deal Even that its livery is almost same as the original STEEL car. I don't blame the owner of a 512M, Daytona comp or GTO to build a copy, but put an R next to vin number and tell the organisation / people / magazines. Who is always honest and truthfull..........(?) Now one can win LM Classic and put it onto cars palmares, but the real car was at home....... There are many many more fakes / recreations on whatsoever papers, chassis etc then even the historians know...... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUYdi43qXHc[/ame]
I have no time or interest for riddles as original research takes all the time I can spare. Besides I have no idea what FOS is, but that fits perfectly into my concept of being very stupid as defined by you.
In this area I have seen a California Spyder that was made from, I believe, a 250 GTE. It looks pretty perfect to me, and if it was made on a genuine Ferrari chassis with a genuine Ferrari drivetrain, I have no particular objection. What I hate intensely is cars like a certain "308" here, Ferrari badging and all, that is actually a Fiero underneath. I agree that a separate sub-forum is needed for cars like that California Spyder. Call them "recreations" or whatever, but to me they are still real Ferraris, even if they are not what they were originally built as. As for cars like that "308", the less seen of them, the better. Frankly, I think FNA should be out seizing and destroying cars like that.
Marcel, Hey, keep NJ out of this Jim, My guess it the Rob Walker 250SWB and its Drogo body, but I'm probably wrong. Regards, Art S.
Nope both are bodied as they were originally today and that's the point re: Kare's statement that he can always tell the difference. These two have the same body. The original has a replica body and the replica the original's original body. Best
First of all I'd like to thank everyone for making this the best for Sure Ferrari "chat" ever. It's been a long time I've actually read anything so entertaining and drawn me back daily to see who has chatted what. Everybody from Fiat, Maseratti, Lamborghini, Lancia owners even people who don't own a Ferrari have jumped on. It's the best marketing job Redline could ever had hoped for. Well done guys. I being a purist would have never even taken a glance at a "recreation" that being my new terminology learned on this chat. Now seeing all sides with the def winner being that correct recreations using Ferrari components must exist I finally took a look at the GTO which started this thread and comparing my Pebble Beach GTO photos it's very tempting.
It is like "Clash of the Titans"! It is clear from the posts that there are great Ferrari people on both sides of this issue.
you could always just change the name of "General Automotive" to "Replica, Fake, and General Automotive", without any mention of Ferrari.
really Marcel? I have had this policy since day 1 when FerrariChat.com had less than 100 users and FerrariChat was still years from Ferrari evening knowing about us. Why does it seem like you are just trying to cause problems Marcel? I feel the way I do about replicas for no reason except my own.
well they should be reported and we'll move them where they belong. I'm sorry if it hasn't been clear in the past our policy on replicas.
Maybe we should start a new section called "Ferrari's with fake shields" so that the people with real shields won't be upset.
Mr. Lay Are you having a bad day or what? I am trying to cause problems? Come on, relax, please. I think that the thread started by Julio Batista turned into a difficult one, for several people. What you said looked TO ME (and most probably to me ONLY) that you did not want the words "Ferrari" and "Replica" connected to each other in a thread title or section of your website ferrarichat. So I guessed that you possibly fear legal issues, if those two words would somehow go together. That's why I asked you, nothing else. Marcel Massini
OK, when it seems like you stop flaming the fire I will relax. Don't play dumb throwing stones and then turn around innocent "who me?".
Mr. Lay I did not throw stones. I asked you a question. Not more than that. Don't see stones when there are none. Period. Marcel Massini
Not in stone, but just in my opinion - "Other Italian" - as it is where all the other etceterini, like rebodied & rebadged Fiats is placed. This also leaves the "merits" intact, is conducive to healthy debate, all the while not upsetting purists.
