I thought it might be useful for us to know who is going and who isn't if some wanted to link up. So, here's a poll!
I think the question is too vague. You should have added a year and/or a condition for a completed track. I'll go in 2013 or 2014 *IF* there is a F1 race there. I'm pretty sure there won't be one this year (or even thereafter), but even if they complete the construction (after the Unicorn delivered a pot of gold), I wouldn't wan't to have to deal with the chaos of a GP premier in an area with limited resources (hotels, airport, roads). In short: If there is a race this year, it'd be a miracle and a mess.
Andreas, we don't need another debate thread about this. I've got a hotel booked, and will be there if there is a race.
Sorry, didn't mean to start another debate. But I do think the question is too broad. I definitely want to go to a F1 race in Austin. Just not the first race.
As time goes by and I can gauge whether or not they're actually going to get it done a little better I will make my decision. Assuming it looks like it'll be finished on time I'm definitely going. It's a pretty short drive from me and I'll probably just sleep in my car (will be partying enough that this shouldn't be a problem ) Among those going, are we going to try and organize and FChat meet up?
I'm probably not going... I am already getting towards the end of my comfort zone in picking a race to go to, and if Austin doesn't sell tickets really soon, it will be too late for me to buy tix to any of the races I'd like to go to. I've been to Hungary, Italy and Belgium already, and the races after those are the far-far away races like Singapore, Japan and Abu Dhabi which are too far to do a long-weekend at... so given my choices are Spain, Monaco, Britain... I sorta need to decide real soon. I am probably going to do Britain this year, and if the season looks awesome and Austin is a definite go, I'll consider adding it as a 2nd race.
I definitely want to go this year, but I won't be booking anything until it looks more certain. Also, I have to see how much time off I end up taking throughout the year. Mark
Planning on attending. Blocks of hotel rooms booked and deposit for tickets is in despite the seemingly impossible task of finishing the track. Just have to wait and see if we get grandstand seats or we'll be sitting on fire ant mounds. BHW
The lack of marketing is enough to keep me out for now. 2 yrs from now I will evaluate how it has developed. Seriously the lack of info/marketing at this stage is unreal. Im booked for a couple here in Europe as always and Japan later.
I think many of are forgetting that they're going to 6 Cylinder motors next year. Maybe the question should be, Who is definately going to the last V8 Formula 1 race on US soil?
Ah the snap, crackle and pop of a wastgate I can't wait and since F1 changes so much and so quickly who's too say this is the last year of V8's?
I do not have too buy it as its being forced upon me with no P&H cost, lol! Sorry I am an old school 'boost head' and that era is my favorite and I tend to digress.
As per goadings from Fchat regulars in the know, my primo Montreal tickets are in front of me. A friend from Fla. has purchased 'priority seating' should Austin be on the calendar. I made it a commitment to attend the first Indy race, I'll do the same for Austin.
