What a great thread, just read the whole thing! Amazing to see one of these P cars disassembled and then reassembled. Thanks for all the detailed photos! I'm going to have to see this car in the flesh when it's broken out...

 

Jim, my question as probably already been answered at some point but, how many p3 were made, and how many 412p, and p3/4 and p4?
and from all of them, how many do still exist?

 

0844 rebodied and recently sold P3 to 350canam -to P4
0846 Daytona winner, long lost, Jim's spyder p3
0848 Perfetti, Italy p3
0850 Stroll 412P
0854 Jim's project car 412p
0858 the 350 canam (allmost Jim's 3th) P4 Berl- to 350canam
0860 Bardinon P4

 

as far as I know, no P3 exists any more because all P3s were updated to 412P/350 CanAm specs back in the day. And there's only one P4 left (0856), the other two were converted to 350 CanAms. Bardinon put a P4 body on his car with the help of David Piper who has the body of 0860 on his 0900 recreation (or however you want to call it)
the body shape of these cars doesn't tell you what they are, because the engines were updated/changed.

0844 is in the UK since many years and got raced in the Historic Challenge quite often and I think that Stroll doesn't have 0850 any more. But I don't know who the new owner is.

Thanks a lot guys, it´s hard to keep track of these cars since they were always being upgraded

So if i understod well

there were 3 P3s originaly Built (0844;0846;0848)
only 1 original P4 was ever built from scratch (0860)
2 412 (0850;0854)
1 350 can am (0858)

..I wonder, why aren´t these chassis numbers in sequence, an in this case, what are chassis numbers (0852 and 0856)?

0856 is one I missed its the 412P of stroll
0852 is a dino number

 

OK so, the 412p are (0854 and 0856).

This makes 7 cars built and all of them still exist.

 

3 P3 were built 0844,0846 and 0848
2 412P 0850 and 0854
3 P4 0856, 0858 and 0860.

so its all in a straight line.

for 1967 0844 and 0848 were converted to 412P, 0846 to P3/4 configuration.

later 0844, 0858 and 0860 have been converted to Can Am Spiders.

Ps: James, i have to agree with you, unlike many of the f-chaters, my main interest in Ferrari is f.1, to me, Ferrari was and is above all an f.1 team, street cars are second to me (perhaps if someday i own one i will think otherwise,lolo) however, in the past couple of years (probably because f.1 is loosing some interest to me, especially after 2008), i started to look more and more to endurance and gt racing, and the 60s period is to me the most fascinating, the cars are simply amazing, with a beauty never to be matched, and racing history specially between 66 and 73 is fantastic....so, when i started to read about this cars, it was like a new chapter of Ferrari history just opened for me....it´s been an amazing ride, thanks to you all.

I wonder why ferrari used a much smaller capacity engine in the P4 to fight the Fords..i mean, the difference is huge!!!Can anyone tell me the diference in weight and power between the P4 and the ford?
