Life in general is about enjoyment and frankly I was ashamed of myself for not being more of a family man. I recently lost an aunt (one of my best friends) to cancer and have an uncle (90% of my reason for a law enforcement career) who has been battling for almost 4yrs. I gotta stop before I get too emotional and I guess the reason behind my reply is from my experience. Thank you for replying and if there is anything I can do for you just let me know. Gregg
so you went to Carey. So after all this bull**** about K3's and etype etc. etc. YOU WENT TO THE SAME SCHOOL AS ME. are you american
Get of the drugs man, were spoken about this before. Were you got at? All the parents drove shjt cars except my parents.
bs. Surprise, surprise my oldman had a JAGUAR MARK 10 (with a mobile phone in it. YES that's right......in the boot was a VALVE unit with a phone handset in the front and that went back to a base so that you could have a phone in the car. This is early 1960's we're talking here. AND why would you do that..................... well because he had a "limosine" business. CAlled "exclusive limosines" with an office in the "southern Cross" hotel. And before you start putting that down, just let me tell you that he drove "Judy GArland" to festival hall for a show and I'll never forget that he told me that she drank 2 bottles of Vodka in the back of the car. AND......it gets better........HE drove "THE BEATLES" to Festival hall for their shows. AND my mother , who was in charge of the restaurant in the "Southern cross hotel", took me to the southern cross where the Beatles had a day with the staff of the southern cross hotel where the staff got to meet the Beatles. AND she took me to work that day .......so I got to meet the Beatles and have my copy of "With the Beatles" signed by all four". so don't start telling my your bs about YOU were the only one who had this and that. Because it's BULLSHYTE:
Well a Mark10 is no big deal,we had several as err spare drive cars . That Silver grill was a great diner we often went there as kids, pity it closed. You know in those days at Carey, there was not a lot of money people, whom sent there boys there, most went to Scotch or Melb gram. lot of parents the mothers worked or the ones that had money came from Kew or Hawthorn and there parents were not into cars. Was the phone like a "sea phone" were you rang am exchange.
3 of my best friends today I went right through school with. and you know they were the guys that came often into Peter Mac to see me when I was having treatment. Non the fuicking car people did, whats that tell you about them.
don't forget that John Elliott and Peter Costello both went to Carey and I would have thought that their parents had BUCKS. Scotch College was the NUMERO UNO private school. My oldman tried to get me into Scotch, but there was a waiting list that went back years. So carey it was. AND YES, the phone went back to an exchange. You lifted up the receiver and a person would ask what number you wanted and then they would dial it for you. Pretty cool for 1963
Elliot's parents were just normal people,Costello his father "Nobby" taught at Carey. Cool phone, like the Sea Phones of that period went back to an exchange. I was the same went to Carey as the list at Scotch was to long, all the boys on mums side went there, infact my uncle was there with Stillwell. With have much in common "big boy"
