I found a good place to route my Battery Tender wires while charging my 550's battery.

Look at the first picture below. The 550 has a nice cut-out along the top of the hood area that allows the wire to reach the windshield wiper area at the bottom of the windshield.

In the second pic, you can see that the Battery Tender charge comes with a quick disconnect cable with two different "pig tails".
One clips onto the battery posts and the other bolts on.

In my pic, I'm using the clip-on cable.
The bolt-on cable could be used for a more permanent hook-up option - just tuck the end of the connector down in the windshield area when you're not using it.

    toggie,

Is it not good to use the cigarette lighter to plug in the battery tender? Or is that less convenient than what you are describing?

    Regards,

    Phil

    Less convenient for me.

With the hood down, the pigtail connector sits at the bottom of the windshield.
This allows me to set the charger on the garage floor and hook up the wire to the pigtail without opening the car doors.

I like this better than leaving the windows open a crack and running the power cord out the window.

With the bolt-on pigtail, I can leave the pigtail connected all the time to the battery (even when taking the car out for a drive). Then, once home, it is a quick reconnection at the base of the windshield to hook up the charger.

Mine almost the same as Ron's but I want the connector under the hood for two reasons, less possibility of corrosion, but more important I always leave the hood ajar when the tender is on so I always see a warning light on the dash which, hopefully, will keep me from backing out of the garage with the tender still hooked up

I just pulled up the rubber and ran the wire underneath. Press fit the rubber back over. Works great, connection is right below passenger wiper. Tucks away nicely when driving just below hood at windshield

Interesting idea : do you have any concerns about water getting into the plug ?

There is a plastic cap that covers the end of the pigtail wires.

If you look closely in the first picture you can see it laying to the left of the pigtail's connector plug (it is held by a thin plastic tether to the pigtail wire).

The cap comes with both the clip-on pigtail and the bolt-on one.

The cap fits on tightly - not 100% waterproof but close to it.
