The F620 (or whatever it is called) is only days away from being revealed. 0-200km/h in 8.5 seconds. That's quick. Any 458 owners daydreaming about this new car?

I bet many are on the list for it. Most new Ferrari's are sold to the same small group of guys, who keep the car for a short while, then trade it on the next new flavor of the month. The preowned Ferrari market, however, is a bit different in that the buyers are more likely to buy the car they actually WANT and are likely to keep it longer. Part of the reason the more expensive V12's eventually lose more to depreciation - smaller group of secondary buyers at higher price levels, eventually drive prices down. The 620GT should be very interesting.

Definitely on my radar. Was considering the Aventador until I drove it. Same issues as the ones I faced with my LP640. Cramped interior and clunky electronics. Really looking forward to the 599 successor.

Interesting. What are clunky electronics, BTW? Cheap switchgear maybe or are you perhaps referring to the gearbox?

As for me and the 599 successor - no thanks. I didn't want to upgrade to the 599 from my 550 and I'm not interested now either. One new Ferrari is quite enough for me, and the 458 is IT baby, yeah. But I am very very interested to see the new one. I hope it will be a lot sleeker than the FF. Less mammoth please.

Perhaps but will wait and see what it looks like. Love driving the 599 but IMHO, the 458 is more sleek and visual appealing.

Need some seat time first. I've never been that impressed with the way 599s drive. I'm a larger fan of 430, 458.

Hit the nail on the head with your first two sentences. Sad, but that's the way it works.

I am considering it; I just asked my dealer to put me on the waiting list; if I could get it before the summer 2013 then I might trade in.

I'm just guessing here, but I think you would feel differently if you would take one across Europe for two weeks. I feel the V12 GTs really shine on long journeys, they are not what you are looking for if you are just going for a Sunday morning spin in the mountains. And I have been exceedingly impressed with the way the GT's drive, it's just a different mindset. Different car. Brilliant for what it wants to be, which might not be what you want it to be.

I have my name down for one - will probably come to Australia early next year. Get my Spider in June and will probably keep that and trade for the new 620 mid-next year.

For now I'm thinking of jumping ship to an Aventador. Unless the 599 successor changes my mind.

I wonder how much it would cost in AUSSIE! For me, 115% import duties! AUSSIE's Ferraris are expensive.

I am in line. In the same league, I wonder what most will pick (X factor wise, perhaps Aventador?) but the challenge as mentioned above will always be the heavy depreciation on all V12s. The proposition on a used Aventador and 599 successor in 2014 would be more realistic to me. 599/612 are best bought used to me.

I am also anxiously awaiting the new 12 cylinder GT. But I will not be in the market for one. I love the out and out sports car experience of the 458. Having driven the 599, both regular and HGTE, it is a different animal with its own virtues. You have the feeling that you can cross the country and arrive exhilarated and refreshed, which you would be hard put to do in the 458. But you are not in command of an animal with the reflexes and sprint ability of a cheetah but the muscles of a tiger.

It all depends on what experience you want.

The 550 although is a great GT for its year will have no comparisons to the new 2012 599 (or 620?).

Ferrari is stepping up their game with this model.

That all depends on what playing field you are comparing. I have never had a desire to upgrade to the 599. Although it is technically a more accomplished car (by far!), it is not giving me more on what I am looking for in a GT. I want a manual box, and the 550 gives me more than enough speed to lose my license in any case. I have always been extremely happy crossing the European continent in my 550.

Comparing on driver's experience and feel, the new 620 (?) is unlikely to win me over. The 550 gives me a great compromise between a Daytona and the latest V12 Ferrari. Which is exactly what I love about it. A perfect contrast with my upcoming 458, and also with my older V12's (330GTC and 365BB). And I love the looks too, much more than the 599. Of course I don't know what the new one looks like yet, so maybe that will stir something in me.

    +1008 (550 + 458).

I agree that the 550 is a great V12 GT that fits between the old-school classic cars and the latest ones off of the assembly line.

The 458 is the choice when I want to go fast.
The 550 is best when I want to go a long distance fast and in comfort (or if I want to bring a set of golf clubs with me). :)
