I figured we could start a thread to talk about the Combine. If you are planning on watching it and what you think of the players you see.

I really interested to see RG3. I watched 5 Baylor games this year but think he will be even more impressive at the combine.

Ah the combine, the days that help make Jamarcus Russell a #1 pick and leave Tom Brady down in the fifth round.

Yea the Combine is not an exact science. Remember however that Jamarcus did have one great game in college too. :)

The only thing I read that makes sense about the combine is it will separate those that will choke from the pressure from those that don't. And even that is suspect. More folks put more stock on the individual school workouts.

Ian Johnson rushed for 4189 yards and scord 59 touchdowns in college so I beg to differ with that statement. That's also considering in Johnsons senior year Doug Martin had at least half of the rushing carries for BSU. Doug Martin is a guy to pay attention to at the next level. I don't think he has blazing speed (I am interested to see him at the combine) but he is a bulldozer with great foot work.

The only game people remember Ian for is that Oklahoma bowl game a few years ago. I never said he was not talented, but a ton of guys are just like him.

Again, not saying he is not talented, but the NFL doesn't go after 'bulldozers' anymore, they are a dime a dozen.
Unless you are a Darren Sproles, Reggie Bush, Ray Rice type that can catch swing passes, you won't be THAT noticed.

If RG III goes to Cleveland he will need to run a 3.38 just to stay alive.

My teenage son, is good friends with a huge end, who plays hi-school football. He is around 380 pounds and runs a 4.8, in the 40 - I understand. He is going to drop to around 340 and become even faster. Supposedly, this guy has strong potential, to go early, in just a few years.
