Did Anyone catch the new Top Gear UK last week pinning the FF vs the Bentley? Clarkson an avid Ferrari fan very much dis-liked the FF. I disagree with him but it was a good watch. Great episode

The "review" was VERY staged. Top gear is becoming more and more scripted even in the reviews. I wish the reviews more even handed, but then again the Ferrari was up against a British car so it was bound to lose.

I'm upset the Ferrari didn't win but as others have said, it went up against a British car so it lost by default.

I am confused in his review where he criticizes the twitchiness oh the 4WD. Did he have the TC off the whole time or was it ever in snow mode? I suspect the former...

It may or may not be but you won't find out from watching Top Gear. It has been a long time since they did serious car reviews. Watch it for entertainment not to try to learn anything and certainly not for a sensible, unbiased review of any car.

I´ve noticed that when they test the same car in two different programs, sometimes Clarkson even changes his veredict about the same car. It seems that he can´t remember what he said in the first program. For example, when he tested the F430, he said that it was almost God-like perfect but in the F430 Scuderia program a few months later, suddenly the F430 was too bland.

Despite the "raccord" problems in the script, it´s entertaining anyway.

the problem is that almost all modern cars are near perfection and it's very hard to judge which is better

I wish they would test the FF in normal dry driving conditions and stop all this snow testing.
Here in England were TG is made, it snows only for 3 days at most. TG missed an opotunity to do somthing else real world with the FF IMO. Cant see many FFs being used in the snow, any one with the means to buy one, will no doubt have a Range Rover or Audi Q7 anyway.

you can criticize Top Gear but the true is that Ferrari is the most praised brand in this tv show, maybe except Aston Martin, this is probably only one of few times when Ferrari not won and you guys make a big tragedy are creating conspiracy theories, :D

I think Top Gear is very staged.

Somehow a Murcie SV lost to a Mercedes SLR...?

The way I saw the piece, Jeremy couldn't understand why Ferrari would want to offer a 4 wheel drive system on the FF. He chose the Bentley over the FF in the snow but at the end said if he knew he was heading into snow he would take a Range Rover over both of them.

He wasn't slating the FF in my opinion, rather demonstrating his lack of empathy to a Ferrari with 4 wheel drive.

I enjoyed the piece, it is simply an entertainment show, as jtremlet points out, that features great cars.

Again, it was total nonsense. Of course one would prefer a Range Rover over a FF if your only criterium is to be able to drive it in to snow. That fact that the FF is better capable in conditions like that in relation to any Ferrari ever built, doesn´t mean the FF is THE car to have in the snow. Prefering the RR over the FF because it is better in snowy conditions, is like prefering a Fiat 500 over a FF because it is easier to park. The comment is true, but completely irrelevant for judging the FF for what it really is: a super GT with super handling. Why not take the Bentley, the RR and the FF on curvy stretches or tarmac and then see who comes out the winner?

The program is losing relevance. Fast!

The problem for me in that test was that Ferrari designed their 4WD system mainly to give it a fun RWD balance and to save weight. Ferrari never said anything like what Jeremy alluded too. The other problem was testing the Bentley on studs and the FF on winter tires!

Other than that it was a fun review and I could care less about Clarkson's opinion. That FF looked like so much fun on the snow!

you guys know it's an opinion right? Why does anyone care what car "won" or "lost" anyone else's review but your own personal one?

On a related note, I am continually surprised by people caring so much about numbers too. I cannot tell the difference between a 10.5s 1/4 mile bike and an 11s 1/4 mile bike, but I can tell the difference about all sorts of other aspects of the machines that change my riding experience. Same with cars.

Car reviews are only usefull if your priorities line up with the reviewer, AND, you agree with their conclusions... so...er... you have to go drive them yourself.

Otherwise, just enjoy them as seeing cool cars in action.

The comparison was invalidated by the fact that one car had studs and the other didn't. A crucial detail that he barely gave mention to.

I thought he said they the studs were "better" on the Bentley. Do you believe that there weren't any on he FF?

well, I can take no one serious who calls a Jaguar E-type better looking than a Ferrari.

+1 beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. Give credit where credit is due. The E is a car alot of companies wish they made.

I have an FF and as you correctly guess, a Range Rover. In the snow I use the FF. it is absolutely amazing and I have already in excess of 10,000 kms through one of the whitest winters on record.

When the flakes fall a grin comes over my face as I go for the red key!

Only real issue is that with the snow tyres you should not exceed 275 km/h.... Can't do that in the Range Rover, regardless of the tyres!

As for a Bentley, it is a German car - not an English one....made of Audi/VW parts with a high price tag.

Thats so cool that you live in a country were the FF can be used in the snow, really cool man :)
However i was refering to the UK. TG is made in the uk for a Brit audiance,. So as a long time ferrari owner, i would have liked to see a relevent road test on dry and wet roads. Saying that Clarkson did do the dry test in his yearly xmas video.
So you keep on driving your FF in the snow mate, if i had one in a snowy country as wonderful as yours, i would:)
