Can't see why, actually. This confirms Traveller's comments above and the picture of the camo'ed prototype with the visible rear. Also confirms the awkward, "cut", 8C or 275 GTB, ultra-short rear end.
The proportions appear to be an improvement over the 599, lower with a more angled windshield. The details on the styling model do appear to be a little overdone and need to be worked through. The rear fender shape on the model does appear to be too old fashioned looking for a new Ferrari. Agreed it looks like an Aston Martin, looking too much like an English antique. Hopefully that has been reworked for the final design. If a Ferrari looks like a shark or has the profile of a woman, it's in a good place. If it looks too much like and insect or kitchen appliance or piece of furniture, then it's in the wrong place. This car appears to have more shark like qualities than the 599 so it's moving in the right direction. -F
Please dont tell me that it's another hatchback!!! Judging from the sketches in the latest video clip!!
When Pininfarina designs a new Ferrari, the mission is a new style which still references the "Ferrari DNA". The designers are influenced by our collective car culture. But I don't think they set out to satisfy certain elements which have been collected by market polling. Inevitably some new models take time for the beholder to accept and appreciate. So even though we will see the new design in a few days and may not accept it as beautiful, for some that might change with time.
I saw on Reuters that Pininfarina design studio is not controlled by family anymore, first time in history of this 82-year old company. Controlling share over the studio have creditor banks. So, important decisions don't come from Pininfarina family anymore. I expect even more changes in terms of design from Pininfarina in future. I assume that FF & this model are products of new CEO decisions, correct me if I am wrong :/
Just reading an Autocar blog and Sutcliffe interestingly points out that if the performance figures are to be believed, then this should be quicker than the Mclaren F1 and not far off a Veyron. That sounds crazy, especially when you take out a lot of weight and add 200 more horses for the Enzos successor.
Outline in red. The beltline and rear fender on other side in pink - grey car shape confirmed. What does the license plate say? Image Unavailable, Please Login
And that is exactly how I saw it in the photo with the rising crease from the diffuser running up and round the rear light clusters, so seems to confirm that as reality.
Similar than this, but fastback. I Like it. http://newcarpicture.com/wp-content/gallery/2010_Ferrari-P540_Superfast_Aperta/2010-ferrari-p540-superfast-aperta_04.jpg
There have been many ideas, fabrications and photoshopped creations anticpating the 620GT, but the front end treatment shown for example here http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/24/this-is-the-new-2013-ferrari-f620-gt-plus-specs/ has been pretty consistent. My opinion is that the front is the most attractive evolution yet of the current Ferrari cliche of the upturned egg crate grill. Beginning with the California's 'grin' and continuing with the FF, the concept has now migrated to a much more serious and better integrated appearance. The corners of the 'mouth' now disappear into the sheet metal before coming to an end, and the lower corner 'jowl' intakes lose the slight awkwardness evident in the FF. They exude functionality. The underlip adds to the seriousness when compared to the body colored section in the FF and seems to logically extend the California's treatment of this area. The downward swoop of the hood appears less abrupt than Stephenson's 599 and creates the impression of greater length, whether it is longer or not. It seems more of a nod to the classic Ferrari than the 599. The crease evolving out of the overlip and disappearing into the front wheel well is now present on all models. All in all it is far from simple but it works very well in my opinion.
I`ve made quick adjustments based on Ingegnere outline. Higher resolution: http://i42.tinypic.com/ix7344.jpg Image Unavailable, Please Login
