The Velocity Channel will be showing "Grand Prix: The Killer Years" this Sunday March 4th at 7 pm Central time. Great show about Formula 1 in the late 1960s-1970s. Velocity is really providing great shows lately.

I put in on taping today. In a similar note, the series "Renaissance Man" is a great show as well, particularly the D50 episode.

True - although I think I would probably have named it something a little less inflammatory.

Yup, it's the truth. But it reinforces what many in the public think about car racing even to this day...

I do not worry about them either as most post 1990's racing fans have no concept of what it was like before their era.

well as many on this site know, when you go racing - you generally sign a waiver that clearly states that motor racing is DANGEROUS and can lead to DEATH.... its all part of it, cant hide from it.

I've seen this. It's pretty chilling and a little tough to view at times.

I think we are all better off that racing safety is at such a high standard today.

A nice surprise for me...I have Velocity and am watching this right now.

Unless they changed the cable packages this is probably just to tease me so I upgrade my channel package. :(

I watched it and remembered I had seen it before. Quick question though for someone who has it on DVD but has watched it on tv, was anything cut-out too fit the time restraints? I ask because I do not want to record it if its a 'cut' version.

BBC shows it as an hour long program like Velocity's broadcast. Assuming (dangerous to do) that BBC also shows commercials I'm assuming (again) that it is uncut.

If they are alike it would basically be about a 45min program. If I can find a blank tape I'll record it and cut-out the commercials.

Does any one knows how to, and if it is possible at all, to transfer the DVR recordings from the DVR's hardrive into an external hard drive?

Is it a DVR from say 'DirectTV'? The reason I ask is because that buddy who kicked me off his ranch that one evening his dad upgraded a few years back but he could not transfer his recording to any media. He liked to record wrestling for his youngest grandson and mail him the vhs tape once it was full, I helped him with this and we went back to just using a VCR.

I'm still using VHS but once I start working again I'll purchase a dvd recorder. I have almost every race/season on VHS since about '81 and would love to get them transfered too DVD aswell. I'm old school and have no issue with using VHS still simply because I'm 'old hat' at it.

Watched it last night - I am a bit of a pyrophobe so yeah kinda got to me but all in all a good show and I like the fact that they did not gloss it up - it was a brutal, dangerous era where the drivers had two transports - one for the cars and one for ther ba..s. I recently got to meet and chat with David Hobbs are a FCA-RMR event - just amazing the mindset those guys had.
