Still, we don´t know for sure if the grey wooden model is the final car or not, so how do we know that this 3d model is? They could have used anything for the video.

A different take on the naming convention.

Not to me. It sounds like a waving of the flag. We are Ferrari and this is what we do.

    +1, again.

It sounds very definitive. If you want the Ferrari 12, this is it, FF aside of course.

As a side bet, I'll wager that the grey model is not the final car. Reasoning: The visiting VIP party would have been given a history of the evolution of the car. They would have passed by the model as one step along the way and then shown the final car -- a real one. If they were the same there would have been little reason to take in both.

Of course we don't know how different it is from the final car.

    Wow, now that is beautiful...

I like "F 12 Berlinetta" over "F620 GT" -- I guess we'll see. And if that does imply a future F 12 Spider then my read is "we are Ferrari and this is what we do". And that's a good thing.

No a huge fan at the moment of the F620 pics, models and renderings so far, and mostly agree with the criticisms. That being said, I'd guess that that's been my reaction to most recent Ferraris, including the Cali which I now like (and believe it or not the FF) so I'm mostly just looking forward to the process. The 458 however was and is love (unless there is a stronger word) at first sight. Although I do agree with bdelp's comments about Ferrari potentially becoming more mono-design themed like Mercedes -- let's hope not.

    Just my opinions, of course.

    I HOPE you're right.

However, those who have seen it say it's very much like the grey model.

Designation based on cubic capacity of one cylinder

    eg 3.0 litre / 12 = 250
    3.3 litre / 12 = 275
    4.4 litre / 12 = 365
    5.5 litre / 12 = 456

That is exactly the back of the car, the fog light is a rectangular LED "thing" with the explanation: inspired by F1.....

The silver mock up is exactly as the real thing (the red one that was shown).

I agree with Ingegnere, where is Pininfarina?

As far as I am concerned, where is the charisma and personality? It may have more power and sophisticated electronics than a GTO, but it loses dramatically in the world of personality, and mythical Ferrari -ishness....

DSG 'box vs the shot gun superfast 'box of the GTO....nah..not even in the same league where emotions and passion mean more than top speed...

I like the word "berlinetta" it reminds me to the 50's and 60's. I prefer "620 Berlinetta"!

    Ludovico- 599's displacement is 5999 cu cms. Ferrari has used a wide variety of names over the years. Initially the displacement of one cylinder, ie 166 is 166 cu cms x 12 = 1992 cu cms, 376 = 3.7 liter six cylinder, 500 = 500 x 4 = 2 liter four cylinder, 308 = 3.0 liter eight cylinder, 612 = 6 liter twelve cylinder (even though it was only 5748 cu cms), FF = Ferrari 4WD, F40 = Ferrari 40th anniversary (1947-1987), F430 = 4.3 liter, 550 = 5.5 liter.

So Ferrari has a wide choice of names and can even use the chassis type like the 118/121 LM six cylinders (see 376 above).

So this car could be the F152 Villenueve (or F152 Gilles) if they wanted to flummox all of us.

Sure I missed a couple and someone will fill in the blanks.

If they did get it wrong with this one than my question is, how did we get it so right with the 458 and so wrong with this? What has happened to the styling team to have this sort of change?

ok, saw the car today in flesh and drove it with raffaele de simone- its a blast, strong, fast, beautiful, yet luxurious and elegant, reminds me from the lateral view to the back of the daytona; for me, ferrari made a great job, i am sure, the car will have great success<, if you like big v12s, you gonna love the F12 Berlinetta; interior is a gem, sportive and elegant, more refined then the 599; fortunately, the 599 gto and the F12 Berlinetta are totally different cars, the gto is much more raw and pure, so it would make sense to have both:)))).... regards-e

Is the clay model grey car an accurate representation of the car?

absolutely, but please be assured, in flesh the car looks much more pretty, it is in mvho really stunning and full of great innovations (eg- to prevent overheating of the breaks from 400 °C on little flaps at the low part of the front open on both sides to give extra cooling to the breaks, the are usually closed for aerodynamic reasons)

I am so glad to hear real praise for that car from someone who ACTUALLY saw and rode in the real thing.
