Good ideas here. Your "replica" reference is a good one. The Aston Martin factory built "replicas" with titles like "Le Mans Replica" which were near exact copies of their more successful competition cars. Unfortunately the "replica" of 01C 125 has some serious errors in just the chassis design to start with. The advantage Aston had was their replicas were built shortly after the originals were when all the correct parts were available. I digress. We are getting ahead of ourselves and I don't wish to disturb Jenks to much. Things have changed alot since his day. What we need to concentrate on now is getting a place established for a replica web site. I of course would like to see it as part of Ferrari Chat. Lets see if we can persuade Bob to give this serious consideration. Once we have this set up we can then proceed to rules of operation . just one man's opinion tongascrew

In fact Volpe had the first two GTOs on order which Enzo promptly cancelled when he heard that Volpe had hired Bizarrinni who he had just fired to build a machine to be faster than the GTO. But please let's take things one step at a time. We need a web site if we are to have any chance of creating a Ferrari replica format. Let's concentrate on that for the time being. just one man's opinion tongascrew

There are real Ferrari "hot rods" but I see your point. It is important that any Ferrari replica web site be strictly limited to replica Ferraris only as defined by the categories so defined. But we need a web site first and I am hoping we can make it part of Ferrari Chat. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Our core business for the moment is the need for a web site so that we can then proceed to establish rules for what constitutes a Ferrari Replica. It is my hope that this web site would be included as part of the Vintage section of Ferrari Chat. I believe this would be the best place for it as there is genuine interest particularly from those of us who for what ever reason don't have the where with all for the real thing. just one man's opinion tongascrew

    Lancia D50

All but one were scrapped, and that was retained by the Lancia family, another was built out of spare parts in the 1950's or 60's for the Bisciaretti Museum. So there is one Authentic and one Genuine Lancia D50 out there. The Lancia family car does make the very occasional appearance, I dont believe it is ever driven however.

    There are also 6 replica's.

On the subject of Fake cars, "I have always viewed them the same way as I do Fake Breasts. I prefer factory originals, but when I'm buried up to my ears in them, at that particular moment I don't really care if they are Fake.!" :)

Good question. I am not really internet literat. Now that you mention it. I think chat site is the best definition for this effort particularly if there is enough support forthcoming to get it included in Ferrari Chat. Let's beat the drum. just one man's opinion tongascrew

That's a possibility. But we still need a site. So EVERYONE let's encourage Ferrari Chat to create a web site for the Ferrari "replicas"!!! just one man's opinion tongascrew

Your quote by Rob is not true. There IS a thread about replicas in the Vintage section. And it would be stupid to throw all replicas in the same General Automotive Crappy Replica thread. We are talking about real Ferraris here, not some Fiero based crap.

Bob, I understand completely your descision in this matter and appreciate your patience in allowing this discussion to continue as long as you did. I am not really surprised at your opinions and respect them entirely. There are many who agree completely with you.. I am not in a position eather technicly or time wise to start a web site but I hope you accept my continued interest in the subject. If anyone wishes to start an independent site I will suport them in any way I can. Howrever there will be no further reference by me promoting a Ferrari replica site as part of Ferrari Chat. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Brief summary from the placard that Peter Giacobbi had by the car at the Desert Classic Concours.

Body was found by Peter near Como, Italy, in an old 'carrozzeria'. Body was straightened, aligned, interior crafted. 330 front end cross member, fabricated round tube chassis, 4.4l engine, 365 transmission, and differential. 400 I suspension adapted.

Track tested at the Speedway in Fontana, raced at Willow Springs and won its class. Still a work in progress. Much work done with thanks to Dan McCleod.

Management of Ferrari Chat has declined any interest in starting a replica site. It will now be necessary to find a way to creat this. Any ideas??? just one man's opinion tongascrew

So what are you going to do about it. I have most recently been promoting a seperate site for Ferrari replicas. However Bob Lay wants no part of it as part of F Chat which is not surprising. I did want to give him a chance in case he was interested. If you have any ideas where we should look to establish a web site please let us know. Until this happens there will continue to be space taken up in the Vintage section with this subject. just one man's opinion tongascrew
