while I would only use it on the weekend and pleasure, the only thing holding me back from buying a Ferrari is my fear of feeling embarrassed driving such a highend car. I know this is not what a purest would feel or say about their Ferrari, I'm afraid of how others would look at think of me...thinking I'd feel like the car is all about getting attention...over the top and look at mee!! did or do any of you guys feel this way...how did you overcome it?

while I'm not really one to care about what strangers and (and friends) think, i can't shake this feeling and it could take a lot of fun out of this. And I think about the people I know that can afford one or two and choose to drive regular buicks and such.

Just look straight ahead then you won't notice people looking. For the most part you either get ignored or you get thumbs up Don't let this "feeling" discourage you.

Last time I checked this is a free country and you are living your life.

Nothing to be embarrassed about here.

Most people dig seeing an exotic on the road. I still remember the handful I saw while growing up!

I notice people with huge smiles or trying to get a pic. If someone resents me, that's a bummer, but wouldnt embarass me.

I earned it. I drive it. What anyone else thinks is their concern, not mine.

Tell them your other car is a Prius. :)

Actually, very very very few people have ever said anything to me but compliments. I've had homeless people give me a thumbs up.

I've had them for over 25 total years total through good economic times and bad.

What's the point of making a good enough living if you can't enjoy it? The jealous ones should not stop you from your dreams.

Luckily, for every jealous person out there, there's literally HUNDREDS who honk, wave, admire, and wish they had such a beautiful car to drive too.

My only suggestion is be a good steward of the marque. People love the car. Love them back.

I am embarrassed because when I drive P 4/5 many young women with tattoos and very little clothing offer to do things with me that I've never heard of if I'll give them a ride and as I don't know exactly what they're proposing to do I don't know how to respond.

If you're worried about it just don't buy red or yellow, do have the windows tinted black and keep driving...

I felt that way on a couple of occasions, but the fact of the matter is that I bought it for nobody's enjoyment but my own. It doesn't help that it's yellow so sticks out like a sore thumb, but that's my favorite color on the car, so there was no compromise. If it bothers you, get a black car and debadge it but even on the couple of occasions I felt a little douchy, it didn't spoil my enjoyment. I did get rid of the Capristo exhaust - it was too flashy for me and I don't care for loud exhausts or any other modification thats more about attention than going fast.

ARE YOU SERIOUS ?....I bought the car for me and could really give a crap what other people think. On the other hand I will talk to anyone that shows interest in it and let people sit in it to take pics if they want. Get it and have fun;you only live once!

Only embarrassed I don't drive her as much as I should. Can't drive her to work becuase then people would say I am paid too much, and I own a 308. Most BMWs in the lot cost more, go figure.

Just buy the car. Owning one is something special.

I understand what you are saying. The problem is - no matter what you chose to drive, the public will think the strangest things. Even if you drove a salvaged title 3 model years old luxury car, there would still be "that guy" from the Occupy movement who gets in your face. Drive a 99%'er Prius and people will cut you off because they think you're driving it to insult their truck. Drive a truck and people say you have a small penis.

    You cannot win this game!

The cars get a lot of attention. Most are appreciative but there is some jealousy. It's a bit of a hassle if you like to be low key. As long as you're moving slightly faster then the rest, it isn't a problem. Or, you can choose to drive at night or in the country :)

Life is short...the only thing that is embarrassing is that your Ferrari has to share the road with so many lesser automobiles. ;)

I'm into my ninth year of Ferrari ownership and have never gotten a negative comment or gesture. Only hundreds of positive ones from people in "all walks of life".

Am I embarrassed driving a regular street Ferrari? Not at all. I might feel differently behind the wheel of a Lambo or Enzo.

I get a little embarrassed at times when a lot of people are looking and I'm not in the mood. Sometimes I bask in it, sometimes don't care, occasionally it bothers me. But I chose yellow. Didn't have to do that. I didn't understand last year why someone would want a black scud. Now that I'm a decent F1 driver, enjoying the hell out of it, an even better and more under the radar driving experience is getting appealing.
