I wanted to ask for some recommendations for a new muffler on a clients 1974 246 (US version). I recommended to him a new Ansa since we know what to expect as far as sound and build quality go. He is interested in getting a muffler with a more 'sporty' exhaust note but he is not sure if a Tubi or Larini will meet his expectations.

Anyway thought I would ask what you owners have found to be a good system or maybe what is not recommended as well.

    I'm grateful for any feedback.

    Thanks,
    James Patterson

    Greetings James,
Have you heard Scott McClure's 246 GTS? If not, check it out here; listen to the entire 7.5 minutes:

I don't know what he's running, but it sounds like a stock Ansa...on steroids. The note is clearly that of a Dino, but amped up a 'few' decibles.
Scott hangs out here frequently, so he'll likely jump in with the details. In the meantime, enjoy the music.
    Cheers,
    Coop

I was just in a Dino yesterday with Tubi mufflers. Very nice sound. Deeper and louder than the stock ANSAs I have on my Dino but not unpleasantly so.

It has Ansa stickers, for what that is worth...

I don't understand that 'boy racer revving' at idle. Great for showing off, bad for the motor.

    Regards, Alberto

I have a Tubi muffler on my Dino, which I find is louder and has more of a "snarl" at the top end of the rev range than the original Ansa, which was still in excellent condition when I replaced it (now in storage). The Tubi has a more complicated range than the Ansa and is sportier, I think. Ansas have a distinct voice, however, which I am sure Dino owners all recognize. The Tubi does not replicate that.

If the client wants something louder than the Ansa, them consider Tubi. They come in two versions, one even louder than the standard one.

The Tubi is all stainless, by the way, so you will have to paint it to mimic an Ansa.
