This car has been for sale for some time now. I don't remember what they are asking but it wasn't cheap for a 308i 2 valve.

Looks ok but I wonder why the dealer doesn't show the vin. The 17 digit vin is visible in the engine picture but he only shows a 5 digit number which doesn't pull up on the provided auto check. Could the actual vin check show an accident or mileage discrepancy? If you clear that up, doesn't look like too bad a deal.

I've seen much worse for they money. As with any car this age, the buyer with discover some stuff that isn't obvious in the pics. But hey, nothing in life is guaranteed.

Why does it have an antenna on both rear fenders? Seems like a fairly decent car for the money. Wonder about the service history. I think this is the third or fourth 308 this place has sold in the last 6 months.

    Best Regards,
    John M

Sorry. Didn't want to start any problems. You guys notice things though that I don't always see. Like 2 antennas. Does anybody think the rear bumper looks crooked?

Wonder how much the extended warranty they are offering is.

You didn't...the value comments are made humorously. What jumped out at me right away: "....from a collection" and "no known mechanical problems".... **gets out wallet to order belts, hoses and all of the rubber bits** :) beautiful car with potential, but would probably need some sorting before considerable driving. The left side of the rear bumper is pushed in, but the US bumpers ride on pistons. It could be gently coaxed back out with a pry bar and a couple of wood blocks. I would want to be sure though that whatever pushed it in didn't push anything else in.

As long as it's got a rebuildable motor, is complete on the inside and out, and doesn't have duct tape holding it together I'd say it's a good deal.

    Things I see:

    -Badly done respray.
-Body damage behind the right front tire (see photo 19,20).
    -2 antennas.
-Clamps on both the plenum air hose and the air hose from the air filter seem suspect.
-Chrome parking break and door sills?

Not a show car. Something you would buy to drive, tinker with, fall in love with...........decide on a price you will pay. stick to it. If you can do the work yourself, think 20k..............unless they can prove a recent (within 5 years) 30mi service.
