Greetings I have been Commissioner of a season-long fantasy F1 league for a couple of years; it was founded by some friends of mine a while back. Some of you here have been playing in past years. Participants have to choose 5 drivers, a chassis and an engine while staying within a tight budget, and points are determined by the accomplishments of those components. For 2012, Rob and I have agreed to add an additional "Ferrarichat League" to the International Fantasy Grand Prix competition. If you are interested in playing, please check out the website at http://www.ifgpf1.com and specifically the detailed rules at http://www.ifgpf1.com/wik/index.php?title=2012_Rules 2012 driver/chassis costs have not yet been revealed -- they will be later this week. So please ignore the 2011 costs still in the ruleset. For more information, please contact me via PM, via email at IFGPF1 (at) gmail.com
Greetings! We're pushing into the start of the season, and so we're past due on the pricing. Our apologies, but there were some debates. Ultimately, we decided that Lotus wasn't a top chassis just yet, and that Charles Pic had a ways to go. The complete ruleset is here: http://www.ifgpf1.com/wik/index.php?title=2012_Rules What you really want to know: Category 1 : 10 million Vettel, Button, Webber, Hamilton Category 2 : 8 million Alonso, Massa, Rosberg Category 3 : 6 million Schumacher, Raikkonen, Kobayashi Category 4: 5 million Grosjean, di Resta, Hulkenberg Category 5 : 3 million Perez, Maldonado, Ricciardo Category 6 : 2 million Vergne, Senna, Kovalainen, Petrov Category 7 : 1 million de la Rosa, Karthikeyan, Glock, Pic Red Bull: 10 McLaren: 9 Ferrari: 8 Mercedes: 7 Lotus: 6 Force India: 5 Sauber: 4 Toro Rosso: 4 Williams: 3 Caterham: 2 Marussia: 1 Hispania Racing Team: 1 There's a handy calculator linked to the front page of the site, or directly at http://www.ifgpf1.com/tools/qk2012.html Team lineups are due by Saturday March 10. We will have a rollout week leading up to the first race on the 18th. Good luck to all -- I hope you all are fighting for a very close 2nd place behind me ;-) --T
Longer than that! And a fine job you do - Thanks! Your budget is $50MM - 5 jockeys + one chassis + one motor. [No more than 2 drivers from each category] Come on guys & gals! - This is where you can put your "expertise" to good, fun, use - Put your "reputation" on the line and sign up! Nothing more than bragging rights & eating crow at stake! Seriously, I've been playing for a few years and it really enhances my enjoyment of the sport. I'm hoping I can play in both leagues this season(?) Cheers, Ian
Oops - Forgot about that!...... In overview, 6MM buys you half a season of sponsorship, and needs to be renewed by the 1/2 way point for the same amount. 10MM buys the full year. Until you have a sponsor you can't earn any money (for trades etc) and a few other things. Suffice to say you need sponsorship! Excellent! Gonna try *very* different strategies across the two leagues..... Hopefully, we've got at least a few folk signed up? Come on guys! We've got a shedload of self-appointed experts on here - Here's your chance to prove your worth! Plus, it's a lot of fun. May also be worth noting that it's almost zero time commitment; Once you've set your lineup no more than a few minutes ahead of the next race. Even writing press releases (mandatory for podium finishers) gets to be fun. [And even *thats* been made easier this season with the introduction of a single mulligan!] Tillman; I presume this (or a new) thread will be the repository for the press releases once we get going? Hopefully, this will encourage more "trash talk" and friendly banter than "our" own site..... Cheers, Ian
Looks like fun. One thing I'm wondering about is the seriousness of the team names and mandatory press releases. Is there room for the kind of humor my avatar might use?
*Absolutely!* - As long as the name is "family friendly" (we've got folks from all over the world and some kids playing) you're good to go. The best press releases are almost always amusing - Some of 'em LOL funny! - That's a lot of the fun! FWIW, being from N. California I wanted to be sponsored by the Legalize Cannabis Campaign, but that was thought to be a little too "risque", so I went with the Hemp Industries Association (Google 'em ) Tillman is sponsored by Bubbas Beer, Bait & Ammo - "Everything a guy needs!" Lets have fun with it! Cheers, Ian
Excellent. I'll make sure to avoid saying anything that will offend an entire nation... Are the driver and team values set now or might they change before the season starts?
Indeed! Smiley's are your friend....... They're all set; http://www.ifgpf1.com/wik/index.php?title=2012_Rules The IFGP commission went back & forth on values a few times, and experience tells us we're about right although I did note that having Fred & Phil at the same price may cause a riot herein! Cheers, Ian
That's what we're talking about! - I'm really hoping we'll have a lot more banter and (friendly!) trash talking here given the # of viewers. You email your lineup to the Commish who checks for legality and keeps them all "secret" until the rollout a week ahead of Aus. A pre-season press release earns you a $1MM bonus, but if you publish it before the rollout you may want to keep your lineup "secret". Further, although releases are only mandatory for podium finishers it would be great if "everyone" issued one after each race - The more the merrier! Lets have some fun! Cheers, Ian
Yes it is!..... Another question though; Where the hell is everybody!? Scared of not doing well? [Bwah, bwah, bwah. ] Don't want to enhance your enjoyment of something you're (presumably) following pretty closely? Why? Don't understand the rules? [Ask here] Other? Seems like we've got maybe 6 folks willing to step up as of right now - IMESHO, that's *pathetic* for what claims to be a dedicated bunch of F1 fans! Without wishing to completely hijack the thread, why is no one signing up? FWIW, I won both titles in my rookie season and for this league we're all rookies (no carry over reduced engine prices.) Certainly, winning always enhances the enjoyment level, but it's a fun game no matter where you finish - Last season I was rubbish (just a single podium and 6th overall) but it was still a lot of fun. As I said above - Nothing but bragging rights at stake. Sign up you *******! [Or, if not, please give your reasons for not being interested - I'd love to know......] Cheers, Ian
Hi gang! To answer a few questions: 1) Yes, odd team names and an ongoing theme is encouraged. Team Really Green has been going head-to-head with Scuderia Modificata for a while, and the Backmarkers! showed strength last year. 2) Speaking of press releases, check out some of these from the past: http://ifgpf1.com/board/index.php?topic=300.msg444#msg444 http://ifgpf1.com/board/index.php?topic=191.0 http://ifgpf1.com/board/index.php?topic=538.0 http://ifgpf1.com/board/index.php?topic=253.0 3) Trash talking here is good, but I ask that press releases and such be done on the official IFGPF1 forum (see links above). Due to changes in my work and school schedule, I have very little time to access Fchat. I can more readily see the other forum, at least enough to run the game. 4) To avoid spammers, I have to manually create the accounts for the wiki and the forum. Please send your teams to me via email ([email protected]) and I'll get all the rest of the setup done for you. 5) Team rollouts happen the week leading up to the first race. The DEADLINE for submissions is the 10th. 6) More folks = more fun, come play!
+1 I'll give it one more try!....... I took the liberty of PM'ing a few folk to ask why no apparent interest. No names but; 1 - "I'll get too serious about it and it'll suck the joy out!" I beg to differ, but it's difficult to argue against that one! 2 - "I don't have the time". He even admitted that was a pretty lame excuse! - Seriously, spend a few minutes with the calculator (link above) to come up with a lineup, email to Tillman and you're done - Potentially for the entire season..... If you happen to get on the podium you need to issue a release, but that's no more than a single post here. I'll leave you all alone now Cheers, Ian
I was going to skip it because I felt bad knowing I'd crush you in my very first year. But I got over it... I'll email my lineup once testing is done.
Now there's some fightin' talk right there! "When the flag drops, the BS stops....." Ah yes! How much weight do you put in testing results? FWIW, my championship season I went with a Brawn chassis (& Ferrari motor) based on testing. IIRC, nobody else did and I got off to a screaming start - Earned the money to trade the motor for a Brawn unit and nobody could catch me!...... OTOH, I went with testing results the past two years and didn't do nearly as well.... We're all rookies in this league of course. As a little heads up - Although the DEADLINE for entries is the 10th all entrants are well advised to send 'em in a few days ahead of time to allow for any corrections in case you messed up........ Too many drivers from one category cost someone last season for example. I'm still hoping there's more that haven't expressed their interest here - Kind of "stealth" entries..... Gotta say again that I'm *stunned* at the apparent lack of interest given all the "experts" here. Cheers, Ian
I'm more into the technical aspect of the sport really. This just does not interest me. But I appreciate your enthusiasm Ian!
This is still the official FerrariChat.com Fantasy F1 League, we have just changed platforms because it appears F1 Tipping closed down. I enjoyed my first year. My only problem is sometimes it's difficult to grab a good version of the race quickly. But this does help me to stay current on F1
My team has been submitted. I am predicting a solid mid-pack finish, back markers be prepared, I am gunning for you!
