Stolen 5 busts of the driver in the Ferrari Park Modena

Cinque busti in bronzo che ricordavano altrettanti grandi piloti della formula uno di automobilismo sono stati rubati al parco Ferrari a Modena. La scoperta è stata fatta giovedì, verso le 20, da una pattuglia della Polizia municipale. I busti scomparsi sono quelli di Vittorio Stanguellini, Tazio Nuvolari, J.Manuel Fangio,Giles Villeneuve ed Eugenio Castellotti. Le opere erano collocate nelle immediate vicinanze degli ingressi in via Emilia e viale Autodromo. I bronzi sono stati staccati dai basamenti in pietra e quasi sicuramente caricati su un automezzo. Nessuno dei frequentatori del parco sembra aver assistito al furto. I vialetti del grande polmone verde cittadino, dedicato al fondatore della casa del cavallino, erano stati arricchiti sin dal 2003 con busti, creati da Alessandro Rasponi, di personaggi del mondo motoristico, che sulla pista di Modena hanno lasciato una traccia per le loro partecipazioni a gare, per successi ottenuti ma anche per essere stati sfortunati protagonisti di tragici incidenti dalle conseguenze mortali. Dal furto si sono salvati i busti di Luigi Villoresi, Giulio Cabianca, Luigi Musso, Alberto Ascari e Walter Villa.

Five bronze busts that reminded many great drivers of Formula One motor racing at the park were stolen Ferrari in Modena. The discovery was made Thursday, about 20, a patrol of the city police. Theft busts were saved by Luigi Villoresi, Julius Cabianca, Luigi Musso, Alberto Ascari and Walter Villa.

 

I don't know about the States but bronze statue theft is widespread thro'out Europe currently and these statues have probably already been melted down for their scrap value

 

There is a big problem here in the states with people gutting buildings, foreclosed homes ect for copper scrap.

 

We have the same problem in Italy too with copper, often stolen from the railway electric system.

 

What a shame! Maybe they will find them, but it seems unlikely.

 

Exactly the same problem in Switzerland.
It's mostly the criminals from the so-called "new countries" coming now to Switzerland, now that the European Union has opened up borders even more.

It's a big problem in the UK too.

Thieves have stolen manhole covers from the roads (leaving dangerous holes for people to drive/ride/fall into), metal war memorial plaques have been ripped off their plinths, churches have been broken into and brass candle sticks & crosses have been stolen, lead flashing gets stolen from roofs, live electric cable from railway lines have been found to be stolen, floodlight power cables from sports stadiums, the list goes on and on.

As this latest case in Italy, and the infamous case of the stolen Auschwitz death camp sign shows, nothing is sacred to these thieving scum!

 

Australia is a problem with copper been stolen and sold to scrap.

 

I can vouch for that. I've had the lead roofing stolen off my bay window at my old house. Replaced it with a synthetic material to prevent a repeat theft.

This is the result of a wild european politic about the enlargement of the european community,i'm not racist but the guilties have a specific origin,the Romanian have the monopole about copper and bronze stoled items,they steal also the monuments inside the cemeteries,that happened to me in the grave of my father.

 

Here in Canada as well. Once in a while one of those idiots try to steal live wires and get electrocuted...I prefer not to add anything else after writing this...

Totally agree with that.
Some East European countries should have never been accepted in the EU, but I guess lot of people had strong interest to make it happen.
The number of companies which moved their production plants there is extremely high.
Without considering all those immigrants who work here and send back home most of the money they earn.

 

It's been a problem in South Africa for years, live power lines, domestic copper piping, outside taps, bronze art from musea, you name it.
They even stole the bronze house-number from my letterbox. Fortunately it is single digit.

One could argue that the forward-buying of a very large percentage of the world's copper production creates a monopoly and unrealistic price-levels for it.

On the other hand, it is a sign of the times. Respect for someone else's property seems to be at an all-time low. Respect for anything is atan all-time low.

I haven't visited Italia in a long time, I hate to hear this things are happening. My relatives in Spain tell me horror stories of gangs from eastern european countries, "una cosa terribilissima."
