Hey fellers. I have been wanting to strap my car to a dyno to see what it puts down for quite some time now. Especially after all the mods I have done to it, I'm curious to see what it is, or isn't putting down. I was just gonna go and get my car dyno'd on it's own, but thought it would be neat if we hand a bunch of us get together. That way we could see how each of our cars do, and compare them to one another. How the different exhaust systems sound, and the performance between them. I'm wondering if you guys would be interested in doing a group Dyno Day in So Cali somewhere. I was thinking about doing it at Church Automotive, because they have a Dynapac dyno, that measures your power at the hub. If we can get 5-9 cars it'll only cost us $50-$70 each. So are any of you guys in So Cali game for a group 348/355 Dyno Day?
I'd definitey join in if I was local n it's something else to stand next to your car as it's screwing to redline, you get to experience what other drivers do when you pass by. Rob
Sweet, and now we add the Oz-meister to the list. ernie darkkaangel vvassallo Aiden gothspeed Plugz, chubbalard, you comming along?
Throw in another delicious malt milkshake from In-N-Out Burger and I'll be there Man I was craving one of those strawberry milkshakes today paisan
Well I have some new ecu tweaks to my race car. I would like to see two dyne pulls with my stock and modified ecu and a printout of the a/f ratios at different points on the modified ecu. Can the guy do that and or would that sort of ruin a Ferrari specific dyno day?
Where and what dyno will we be using?? If needed we can use the dyno I do all my tests on .............. I will operate the dyno and give each of you ..... the bad news ...........
I'd be in if it was local. Is a dyno hard on a car? I've never done one except the CA smog every other year at 25mph. Seems like a lot could go wrong if not done right....
The plan is to have the dyno day at Church Automotive in Wilmington, because they have a Dynapack dyno, which measures power at the hub instead of at the wheels. But before we do anything I wanna make sure we have enough committed guys, so that we get the lower dyno day pricing instead of individual price. If we get 5-8 cars the prices is $70 each car, for 3 base line pulls. I talked to them and they said we need to give them at least a month notice, so we are looking at late April early May. So cummon, all we need is 4 more guys to commit so it's only $50 each if we get 9 cars.
That's why I wanna do it on a Dynapack. Your car doesn't have the risk of running off the rollers. Your hubs are attached directly to the dyno. Here is a video of a 512M on a Dynapac. If we use mine ....... it is just up Golden West from you on Westminster ..... just east of the 405 Since I will operate the dyno ........ I can get us and even better price than that, at anything over 2 cars ............. I don't want to throw your thread off ernie ....... but the dyno I use, is the same one used by many magazine product review people, to verify manufacturer claims .......... it is located in Garden Grove/Westminster ............ just putting the option out there .........
If everyone else is fine with that, then I'm game. I'm more interested in all of us getting together to see what each others cars put down, and a chance to hang out. I'm not married to the other dyno, just thought it was a good place at a reasonable price. But if you can get yours cheaper that's even better. So then do you wanna take over arranging the dyno? If not then the plan is still to go to "Church". Just let me know Oz. I'm cool either way.
^^ oops ... dang .... I got called .... lol ............ ernie you are still the 'dyno grand marshall' of this parade !!! Since I have not been there in a while ...... I will confirm pricing by tomorrow .......... which should be no more than what I mentioned ........... unless something crazy has happened ......... also this 'church' service would happen on the Sabbath (saturday ) ............ so gather the peeps and let me know, so I can reserve the facilities .........
ok, guys I really stepped in it this time ... I shouldn't have opened my big mouth .. .................. I contacted my dyno place and as everything else lately, prices have gone up ........... and it has not helped that I have not been there in a while ............ so here is the skinny ......... normal price is $85 per car ......... because of my history there, I was still able to get a slightly better price for a 'Dyno Day' event ....... qty. 1-4 cars will be $70 ea. ........ and 5 cars plus will be $60 ea. ($60 for every car, 1 thru whatever over 5). I hope that makes sense. Facilities are available for upcoming Saturday April 7th ........ the 14th is reserved by another party, saturdays of the 21st and 28th shop is closed ............. so if not on the 7th we will have to wait till May ............... so ernie being the Grand Marshall can make the call on where and when to hold 'dyno day' ...........
