Asking price is about the market price of a 458. However, car is PI. For me PI should be cheaper( a lot) as you will not have warranty. Ital will not service the car.

Same here, somehow I still don't have the chance in owning the GTR. Seems that Motec is more in-line with Jap makes but they do have the M800? that handles up to 12 cylinders, wonder if any race teams with Conti engines etc use them.

Pg 17 onwards are nice but I'm bias :D

Seriously, that alien-faced rear is atrocious if you ask me.

Brilliant so you've picked up the X5m?

Wow. That'll be some awesome diesel burning time!

Bro, the price & details are there unless they removed it? OMV is about S$340K but $885K for PI is way too steep with 3rd party workshop & no factory support. I suppose high-$700K will deal it. I like the colour though.

    Hahaha

+1 but owner can join FCOS though.

oh yeah now I see the price. At 885k seems decent enough for PI car...but as always the lack of warranty for new car is a deal breaker.

This car is an almost new import, likely from UK. Basically a new car. Reg it then export over which takes a month anyway.

Can those 3rd party guys actually maintain it? I'm sure oil change is easy but it's the electronic/hardware stuff not to mention factory update campaigns. The dealers are really brave to do this.

    Hey guys,

my name is Matt and the owner of the company who brought in the car is actually an acquaintance of mine, so that’s my disclaimer upfront :). I've already bought a 458 from them (red with challenge grill!) and its in the process of registration, so thought to chip in with a few thoughts.

Firstly the car on sale (and also the one I bought) is not a used PI car, it is a brand new, zero mileage car. So it would be a 1st owner car, no mileage, and expiring only at the end of the tenure of the COE. It isn’t in the UK though – its already in Singapore and ready for registration!

The comparative pricing of a brand new 458 (exact pricing) from Ital would be $898K + Options + COE, and for the grigio car on sale it is $130K of Options, so the Ital price would be $1.03M + COE. So when the math is done, the savings is actually pretty substantial and close to $200,000.

With regards to the OMV, the 458 I got is going to have an OMV of $350K or so, and the grigio one on sale has an OMV of $340K. No underdeclaration going on here – in fact compared to Ital’s OMV’s, these are actually higher!

I did consider long and hard before going for a PI 458 and my choice was further swayed by the fact that Hong Seh (whom I bought my 430 from) already has the diagnostic kit for the 458 and will service and manage 458’s for a substantially lower servicing fee than Ital. Like everybody else, I would be a little wary about any workshop servicing my million dollar baby, but Hong Seh has been in this line for decades and are (or were!) a Ferrari specialist so I am very comfortable with them looking after my toy.

Secondly, I did speak to Ital (as a prospective client) and they confirmed that they will service PI Ferraris (there are a few PI Californias running around that are serviced by them), including PI 458’s, although they of course state that being a PI Car you will receive lower priority than their own direct cars.

However, when you consider the fact that you are saving almost $200K on a 1million+ dollar car, and that the previous Ferrari distributor of 20+ years does service the 458, then for me (on a tight budget! ) the choice was an easy one.

Warranty wise, I did my homework and spoke to Ferrari UK and they assured me that any factory recalls or warranty would be honoured world wide as a matter of legality, and I don’t think Ital would decline an official fix/recall for the 458, PI or otherwise. Taking into consideration that the 458 is not a ‘brand new’ model, but one that has been around for 2-3 years, pretty much all the bugs have been ironed out, and between 200K and a ‘warranty’, again, it wasn’t a difficult pick for me.
Quite frankly, I have owned a 360 before, and a 430 after that, and thankfully, I never actually had to claim warranty on any of those cars.

Okay – so that’s my 2 cents, instead of buying a Lamborghini (and I love the design of the Gallardo by the way, just that the haircut I would have to take when selling it is a nightmare!), I thought I would go for the 458 instead. And quite frankly, after 2 years of driving it when the warranty expires, what difference does it make whether it is PI or not?

I don’t think as paying clients we should be held hostage to margins that official dealers demand; at the end of the day a free market gives us choices and savings and can ultimately only benefit us, the end users and car enthusiasts. It is after all the same product from the exact same factory, just $200K cheaper.

Will post pics of my car once I have it on the road. Hopefully Fchat users will not disciminate against my car as it is a PI ! =)
    Cheers!

As with Jon's GT3RS .. the same guy did the ECU remap on both the 430 & C63 about 2 years ago. It's similar to DMS but more bespoke, and the performance difference was immediately noticeable .. although the shredder chewed through tyres a lot more quickly afterwards.

Thanks Matt. Hope your words will encourage some buyers. From my calculator, your friend don't make too much after the COE is added. If he can take my RS along with all my junks, I wouldn't mind a grigio 458 :D

Sounds compelling enough to consider PI Ferrari. A friend once told me, if can afford, buy agent car. In this case, a 458 would be around 200k more expensive from Ital, and when you sell, the depreciation should be comparable to that of PI. Difference is that your car will have proper 3 year warranty, extended to 5 years of full warranty or just mechanical warranty if you so choose. I find it quite unsettling paying 800k for a new car and having to bear all repair cost should something break. Horror cases do happen.
But saying that, price for the 458 looks attractive!
