OK Thanks! I guess I just figured with the odd Ebay listing it was a storied car:)

I spoke to the owner of this vehicle a few months ago. He has a shop that buys salvaged vehicles and fix them and turn around to sell them. Based on what he said (and as stated on the ad), the damage was not too extensive but due to state law requirement it needed to be salvaged. I asked him for service history and he told me that the car just had its major service. I then asked what was done on the major, and he said oil change, nothing else. It didn't sound to me that they have much experience in servicing the F cars. For anyone that's interested, this definitely needs a PPI and if checks out ok and price reflects the history, might not be a bad purchase.

Yes, the damage appeared superficial, but the car did get launched when the damage occurred. It was all documented on FChat when the damage happened. The car has been with this wholesaler a long time, and the longer they have it the more storied it becomes.

Exactly. I've seen the auction end in the low-mid $90k's so if they reduce the price a bit it will *maybe* sell.

Can the car be retitled as something other than salvage? I guess that depends on that state? I don't know much about this. It appears that CA has issued it a salvage title twice which leads me to believe that perphaps they tried to get it titled otherwise there???

It is what it is, and if anyone could re-title they, and the car, would become a pariah in the F car community. The damage to the car doesn't warrant a total but that's the way it worked out due to policy and politics. I presume the damage was limited to the hole in the floor, and the repair probably cost less than $3k. The insurance company elected to pay the insured a huge number in exchange for title and possession, and this is where the car suffered the real damage.
The insurance company then wholesaled it off to someone looking to turn a profit, but that hasn't worked out, and instead the wholesaler has been sitting on the car for months - approaching years.

From the pics it looks like the whole floor pan was cut out and a new section welded/glued/rivited in. Or am I wrong were the holes just filled with weld and painted?

I have no interest in the car, I'm merely curious.

It's been discussed in this thread; towards the beginning. There's a pic of it's crinkled passenger dash before it was repaired.

#136348 is no longer being offered by Scottsdale F. Doubt it actually sold to private party and has been either taken off the market or wholesaled to another dealer. Will be interesting to see where this thing resurfaces. Normally when Scottsdale F sales a car the ad says SOLD, whereas this time the ad just disappeared. Even when an Fchatter recently decided to no longer consign his CS at Scottsdale F they still put "SOLD" over the ad. Let's wait and see where #136348 shows up next.

    Guys,
Its a pleasure to see this thread still cooking'!
Stock pro seems to have taken my place as the absolute strad jock, and I have gained back from Rad 430 gt who is the scud jock who helped me buy my scud recently. This site really adds value for us.

All the best to all strad buyers, the help fchat provides is priceless, and so is the strad, what a rig!

BTW I Passed a Corsa strad w a stripe today on the 10 freeway in Santa monica in my scud, it made me think after ten strads, my favourites were my first argento, and my first Nero both without stripes and btw my silverstone scud has no stripe.

Wow, that's too bad on that CS. I wonder how he got the insurance company to pay off $140k, though.
