Hey guys, Thought I'd run something by you guys and get your feedback. My 512 TR needs a full service this spring and I want to learn doing it, but I thought it would be really cool if I could have someone assist me through the process, someone who has done it before. I'm a mechanical engineer and have very high attention to detail; I just love to read on this stuff. The problem I have is I don't have access to garage, facilities and the tools required and I don't know anyone who does. It just doesn't feel right to me to just drop off the car at a shop and forget about it; and it can get expensive. What do you guys think of this scenario. Let me know your thoughts.
Wow what a small world, we are going to perform a major service on a 512tr that was just purchased by a new customer (pilot) and he wants to help and learn the process. He will be cleaning all the parts and learning the proper process at the same time. As for saving money on the service for his assistance, there was an old sign on the wall at the local esso service station in the late seventies and it said labour $25 per hour if you wait $35 per hour if you help $45 per hour if you need some advice feel free to call. or email
Rocco was NOT being an "A*S"....that sign has been spotted in EVERY garage I have ever been in, from a Yugo's shop to a Lamborghini's...only in the Lamborghini's it's $200.00 an hour to help.....Mark
Me too .... in fact I like it ! It shows what a garage crew exeperiences when people "want to help" ... in hours of time ... (time= money). No tact needed here Marc
