But that's not the problem IMO - It's a lack of rear end grip, not too much front end in that instance. Again, I hear what you're getting at, and increasing deployment time is certainly an admirable goal, but they've got to maintain balance for it to work. Maybe they do indeed have something that will help, we'll see soon enough I guess. Cheers, Ian
We know your opinion on it! And you may be right. IIRC, we were at 50/50 in the poll at the beginning of last year - Might be interesting to do another now we've got some experience with it (?) Cheers, Ian
Not to revisit the issue but... It did undo the greatest pass made last season. (or the last ten seasons)
I worded that incorrectly, I meant to say "too much front end bit while DRS is open". That's the hinderance to a lot of teams not being able to use DRS in more turns
Don't want to get in a pissing contest, but you're still ass about face IMESHO The front end (without any F-ducts etc ) generates a "constant" (depending on speed) amount of DF. The "bite level" at the front also therefore remains constant. OTOH, opening the DRS *drastically* reduces rear DF, and hence rear end grip - And that's the problem IMO. IF they can/have linked any trick aero at the front to the DRS, they could indeed be onto something. We'll see soon! Cheers, Ian
OK - No new poll coming [I suspect the results would be about the same.....] A *little* bit of an overreaction their D! [IMO anyway ] Cheers, Ian
TBH, not one of my strong points! However, I know there are others here who will step into the breach...... Cheers, Ian
Yes, lots of rear grip lost while the front maintains a good amout of grip. The trick will be in making the front wing fduct stall more while drs is open thus helping balance front to rear. There is a video floating around showing the Merc using drs where other teams were unable. Only qualifying will tell a little something and we'll know for sure if the Merc is some silly amount quicker than everyone else in qualifying
If MS wanted Rubens in the wall, he would have been in the wall. I thought it was tough racing, we have seen the same from many greats over the years. Squeezing someone is nothing new.
Personally I thought that it was a total unnecessary dice with death with a concrete wall, one wrong move from Rubens game over, what he was trying to prove I have totally no idea. I like hard racing myself, that's why I like Hamilton, so it begs the question, if he had done that..... surely we wouldn't have double standards..would we. I like MS, very glad he is still in sport, I hate no F1 driver.
+1 How many times, in how many threads are we going to revisit this BS? There's two viewpoints. End of story. I'm getting tired of almost every thread devolving into swinging purses at each other! Indeed. "Balance" is certainly all important. However, I've been going round & round on this; Do I want a well balanced but super slippery car (sometimes lacking DF) or one that sucks itself into the tarmac? I don't know the answer, but am looking forward to (hopefully ) finding out soon..... Cheers, Ian
You're right Ian it's a tough call, but I belief compromises in DF must be made due to optimizing DRS. Can't wait to see what does what
+1 It was bang out of order! (But as I previously posted, his swerve at the end of it shows he's mellowed!) Stands a good chance! I bet you weren't happy he's still in the sport when he was all over the road holding Lewis up at Monza (again, a bit naughty to say the least!) Timo Glock! Forever to be hated! (but I bet you love him! ) It's been like that since I've ever known this site so why should it change now? (Great bunch of guys but there's always the chance it could kick off at any moment!) Look at it this way: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t21xN21wrsc[/ame] It was the only clip I could find - Honest! Wait a minute: How did they get those pictures of My girlfriends?
I hear you, and am hoping it's just that we're all going stir crazy ahead of next week. But, it does seem to have gotten worse recently. Hopefully, once we've got something tangible to BS about the purse swinging ("handbag's" for the Brits ) will die down. Unless one of the main protagonists does something a little "controversial" of course, then *lookout*!...... Cheers, Ian
Well I cannot argue with any of that.. IIRC Glock was left out on slicks on a wet track, IMO he did very well to be where he was. Lap of the gods stuff that one. Don't worry Ian just biding time mate..
I heard about this the day before yesterday: http://www.yallaf1.com/2012/03/12/mercedes-race-pace-faster-than-red-bull/ Possibly some serious sand-bagging going on with the new MB. I heard about this the day before yesterday and decided against agreeing with anything as I have poured over the testing times probably as much as anyone has.... The MB looks very decent but I still don't think anyone is going to walk away with anything this season. It will get ugly at the front.
I just read something quite interesting. According to the old points scoring system, Rosberg would have lost to Schumacher last season by 3 points with Schu being ahead since Canada and then the rest of the season. Then another history lesson about Schumacher and Brawn: In 1992&1993, Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost became champions in Adrian Newey designed Williams-Renault. But in 1994, Michael Schumacher stopped them, winning the title with Benneton-Ford with Ross Brawn besides him. In 1998&1999, Mika Hakkinen became champion in a McLaren-Mercedes, and Newey was there again. Guess who stopped them in 2000? It was Michael Shumacher again in a Ferrari and Ross Brawn was besides him, too. In 2010&2011, young Sebastian Vettel won the title in a car designed by who? It's Mr.Newey again! Incidentally in 2012, Michael Schmacher and Ross Brawn are together this time at Mercedes AMG Petronas. fate ?
It would be nothing short of an honest to Ecclestone miracle if it happened a 3rd time for Schu. It's just interesting how Schu and Brawn go to a team and completely transform everything anyone knows about a team.
Those new sidepods are massive...I wonder what they've got going on in there, perhaps some massive fans a la BT46b fan car
