i agree. i actually think the mods should remove this from the lambo section and replace it in the american muscle or general automotive section. i had no idea that this was a teledyne continental project!

    this thread has been helpful.

Gentlemen, If this was a Subaru or Aston Martin forum would you be upset if there were WRC Rally Car or DBR9/LMP discussions because they were actually built by Prodrive?

It's like having a child. Sure the mother carried and gave birth to it, but without the father's input there wouldn't be the child. And whose surname does the child typically take?

Congrats Roy for finding/saving an epic piece of LAMBORGHINI history!

Would make for a very cool spy movie :)
Can't believe Lamborghini would be that sneaky! What a bunch of bumbling thieves.

The more I learn about what when on back in the days, with this
as well as other projects, a real good Industrial action drama
film could be made. It would change the image of not only
Lamborghini, but ALL car producers of the day and
the back stage tricks and deals that were
made by many a wealthy investors in the
exotic car market back then. Amazing how many
things thought as correct on today's Internet
are pure false wife tales. They get re-gurgetated
in books of so called secret documents that
have just been spun so off base for the
Purpose of increasing want and value of a
certain make or model to the "Brokers" advantage.
Not just Lambo, but many others. Each will
have to choose what to believe "rest assured", but
for me I will buy and trade what is fun and
catches my eye, not what produces the most
return based on Hype and "old lady's" tales
of a word of mouth "must be true" comment.
Enjoy the car, what ever it is for you, not
because some one makes it appear magical
and un-obtainable. Buy what you want, drive
what you want, not for some one else's
    bank account!

The interesting thing is that the cheetah led to the LMs, stolen design or not, and is part of Lamborghini history. From what I understand, MTI "stole" enough of the design from the humvee to cause legal problems also...
What I never understood is why the LM002 wasn't more popular in its day, considering how the civilian version of the humvee became thee thing to have. The LM to me would seem to have more prestige & image for wealthy buyers. I guess it took Arnold driving one to kick off the trend years after the LMs were produced...

The reasopn imo is because the LM was launched and was then met with a recession shortly after put on the market, wheras the Hummer was launched after that recession ended and when a great economy began.

True...I also think the LM came before the trend of big SUVs & "super" trucks

    Very interesting!

This is the first time I pay attention to those pictures. On two of them one can read "NE9248" which is a regular swiss number plate from the canton of Neuchâtel. Actually, Georges-Henri Rossetti the Lamborghini owner at that time was from this canton, so I would guess the registration is his own or maybe the one from René Leimer (I don't know if he also came from Neuchâtel). I'll try to see if I can get the info.

I find it interesting how much this truck made it into toy production without making actual production. It was used as a GI Joe vehicle as well...
