There isn't a bad angle to the 288!
Joe Sackey, I was curious about the relaese date of your book. I heard from the shop where I orded my carbooks that the release date is delayed from may to september. Is that right? Gr. Xander
September at the earliest from what I understand. Its common for publishers to push it back to get things right.

Here is a 288 GTO that was owned by F.W. of Starnberg, Germany. Just outside of Munich. He would bring one of his two 288 GTOs to something called the "S&T Stammtisch". A monthly meet on a Wednesday night during the summer months. We would meet at the Ferrari dealership "S&T Sport und Tourenwagen" in Munich and head on out through the rush hour traffic off to some little Bavarian Restaurant in the countryside. This photo is from June 1989. Now the second photo is the same GTO at the Hungaroring during a trip to the track organized by the same Ferrari dealer in Munich. This should be June 1990. F.W. recently sold one of his 288 GTOs to an Fchat member and is famous as once being owned by Niki Lauda. As far as I know he still owns the other one (should be the one in the photos). Now I suspect that this GTO is not the Lauda GTO, but rather his driver. But I'll let you serial number folks figure that one out! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Just a FYI for us American readers. The red plates on the 288 GTO in the first picture is a temporary or dealer plate. Red plates as in having red letters. "STA" means that the car registration is from Starnberg. The name of a lake and town south of Munich. The second photo is a 288 GTO with black letters. Or rather a normal yearly registration. Also from Starnberg. The clincher is this..and I don't have an answer. The 288 GTOs in the two pictures could be 2 DIFFERENT 288 GTOs. I never asked F.W. which was which. It could be that the 288 GTO in the first picture is the Lauda GTO. I can do some research as well as look up the dates of the photos - the exact dates and then look the the original photos to see the expiration dates of both plates.
I came across this image today. I'm not sure if it has been posted already in this thread, but if it has I apologize Image Unavailable, Please Login
