How close do we think we will get to the pole time last year ? 2011 pole: 1:23.529 If these cars get within a second of that I would be surprised. I'm fully expecting something in the 1:24s or even 1:25s
In my opinion, McLaren with Newey were great (perhaps unbeatable) until the train Ferrari with Brawn and Schumi started running and I suppose it's going to be the same with regard to Red Bull with Newey and Mercedes with Brawn and Schumi... (I apologize for my bad english)
If true (not doubting you, I just know that this game is very tricky one) then that is titanic news. As you mentioned earlier, parity amongst the top 3 or 4 drivers will make for an epic race this season...especially with DRS. One certainly can hope.
So, is anyone that "prayed" for rain happy with the outcome of FP1 & 2? While a wet race may be kinda fun (if you like lotteries) it's almost completely hosed all of their testing programs for the weekend. They're all behind the 8 ball right now. As for times, sticking my neck out, and assuming it stays dry and the thing rubbers in some, I reckon pole will be damn close to last years time, if not a little quicker...... "This is why we watch"..... Cheers, Ian
You sir, are a brave soul. I hope you're right. I believe Red Bull were running with very full tanks during FP2 as was Rosberg and they were all in the very low 1:32s. Dump the fuel for a qualy run and I believe we can safely lower the full tank time something like 8 seconds depending on the track. It's going to be close...
Schumi is a machine and will push a car further than anyone else..... but lets face it, two practice sessions, one in the rain, mean nothing. P3 and qualify sessions will show what he has. If its a fast car, he won't be easy to beat. The trend has been that he and Ross need two years then its over. I hope that's the case here.
I think the REAL kicker would be if a Red Bull were not in the top 3. I have a feeling the 'balance' issues they are talking about are more sandbagging than anything though. But we can dream of a Mclaren and MB front row can't we?
so many rumours, im hoping for closer qualy and closer race this time less than 12 hours to quay, cant wait for it
I heard they were doing a race simulation on hard tires specifically simulating fuel levels after the second stop. I think they were just figuring out tire strategy really. There's something about the combination of the two of them. Their work ethic and motivation abilities to a team really get the best results people can give. Now with Acosta there it's just going to get better. It's like they put the band back together.
:*( He gave a speech type interview the other day about when he arrived at Ferrari and how they had to change things. I'll see if I can't find it, I think I have the link at my home PC
Here it is. Is actually from a couple years ago. Great lecture though [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m16RZA8Fzvs[/ame]
While I agree that the new Ferrari is likely a piece of rubbish, Alonso does have a unique turn in style that looks very aggressive. He just seems to motor into a corner and then turn in bags of lock. Also I'm not sure why we are getting excited about MS when we are only talking P2 ... even MS would say it means nothing. One last thing. I think the lack of testing causes drivers like Webber to suffer because he really needs to dial himself in to produce that confidence that he needs to be on his game. They really need to bring back testing to level out the playing field. Pete
This one cuts off. Would be great to hear the rest. (In the case you get board and want to upload it) LOL
If I had it I would! I would certainly enjoy hearing more of his experiences, although a bit more comprehensively would even be nice. I'd like to know how he made then '97 car competitive for instance.
