Idle speculation is the meat and potatoes of the Internet. Trick to maintaining sanity is to avoid taking it seriously
Not exactly. What I'm saying is many on this board seem to believe that Alonso is a victim of the situation. Whereas I'm not convinced that he isn't part of the problem. If one were to ask the engineers what are the challenges of building a car to suit his tastes, perhaps we might get some interesting information.
Maybe the question should not be "Where will Ferrari finish in Australia?" but "Will Ferrari finish in Australia"?
+1 Finishing the first race and gathering that info is probably more important than an 'lucky' podium.
Based on where they are in final practice, they will be lucky to get out of Q1 (about 2.5-3s off the pace). The team have made a horrible mistake either in the car somewhere.
According to Joe Saward, up in the Media Center the Ferrari F2012 has been nicknamed "Clifford", because it's a Big Red Dog!!
Ferrari should be so damn embarrassed it's not even funny. Simply pathetic effort designing this car. With their resources, there is NO and I repeat NO excuse for a performance that ****ty. Massa just gave up, FA would have had that turd into Q3. Have fun with customer cars (TR and Sauber) passing you by this year! Just so disappointed with the team. They are 2 seconds slower than McLaren give or take. ****ing unreal.
Very frustrating, but what can ya do other than knuckle down. All I know is, we haven't seen Ferrari this bad for probably 20 years. Even the F60 was on the grid in 7th and 9th in '09 and the F2005 damn near won its 2nd race at San Marino and was P2 in qualifying at its initial race. I guess we will see what FA can wrangle out of it. Massa put forth a pathetic effort today. Also it's pretty shocking that pole this year is 1.4 sec slower than last year.
A big money offer to Newey is required! They can maybe turn it around to get a few race wins but I think the championship is certainly not on the cards this year.
They tried that already and newey said no...need to get some of the engineers working directly under newey..
I thought Alonso looked to be getting in a good groove just prior to coming off today, I'm hoping for a respectable showing tomorrow where they can at least maintain reasonable lap times with the front runners. I hope we can see the car settling in by the end of the race so that next week it is competitive.
True, to the point I'm concerned both drivers may get injured in attempts to overdrive the car's balance issues. Sciurus Vulgaris.
If one takes out the great MS years then Ferrari has done nothing in 40+years. MS and Brawn gave Ferrari some glory but now its gone. MS combined with Brawn knew how to develop a car. Alonso and Massa couldnt develop a good salad. The only reason Alonso looked so good at his previous team is because he was working with other teams info and other backup drivers develping the car for him. Now he has none of that and Ferrari has nobody to do the "real" work. Ferrari are living off of the MS Brawn legacy for now but it will wear out soon as fans start to walk. They need a real driver/developer not just a name that everyone "thought" was good.
Due to lack of testing a development driver is not what they used to be. Car has to be good out of the box and this ferrari aint....
